We began introducing a sippy cup to our daughter around 8 months of age in preparation for the "big switch" from bottles. She hated sippy cups and would routinely throw them off her high chair. We tried every type of sippy cup on the market including the ones with straws (we have a cupboard full of them). Out of desperation (at age 14 months) we tried this one thinking it looked more like a bottle and voila!! it worked. This is the ONLY sippy cup she will drink out of - period. The fact that it is also high quality and made of bpa-free plastic is just a plus.

My daughter is 10.5 months old. We have been using the Dr. Brown's bottles since she was born, and I have long ago gotten tired of washing all the parts. Since her 6 month well child visit, when the pediatrician mentioned it, I have sporadically tried to get her to use a sippy cup. I have one of the hard spout with valve Playtex cups, and I bought a Nuby one thinking it would be closer in shape and feel (the nipple) to the bottle nipple. Well, she just bites the Playtex spout and frequently the Nuby one as well; sometimes when very, very hungry she will drink maybe 2-3 oz of formula from the Nuby then cry until she gets a bottle. I somehow ran across the Thinkbaby trainer cup and thought, why not? The nipple seemed somewhat closer to a bottle nipple. Well, we received it 3 days ago and it has worked out great - the first time I tried it one morning, I put just 3 oz in it thinking I might have to finish up with the bottle. I ended up having to pour the rest of the formula in as she was doing so well - and since then I haven't used a bottle at all! She has even been drinking water from it which I hadn't been able to get her to do much. Regarding some of the complaints on here - perhaps my daughter is not as strong a sucker, but the nipple doesn't really seem to collapse much on her, or at least not even to affect the flow. It sometimes leaks some if you are shaking it up and down (e.g., to mix up the formula) but when she was rolling it around and upside tonight on her highchair tray, nothing spilled out. I am very excited to finally be able to put away the Dr. Brown bottles, all their many parts, and the bottle rack taking up space on our kitchen counter! Haven't traveled with it yet, and it will be harder to fit it into the insulated bottle pocket on our diaper backpack as they are fatter, but overall this is an awesome cup!! Oh, and SO EASY to clean! I'm buying at least one more.

Got My Toddler To Switch From The Bottle,
By
This review is from: Thinkbaby Trainer Cup, Orange, 9 Ounce (Baby Product)
I really recommend this, and the Thinkbaby bottles as well. They are great at preventing air bubbles, they're very easy to clean, they're safe, and they look so cute! My toddler is now drinking from the trainer cup everyday without asking for his bottle!

Good and Bad,
This review is from: Thinkbaby Trainer Cup, Orange, 9 Ounce (Baby Product)
I agree with all of the parents other reviews that this was the only sippy cup my babies would take after the bottle my only complaint is that the mouth piece collapses when they suck on it and fluid begins to leak out of the cup. The fluid also comes out a little too fast for beginners, but that is a smaller issue than the mouth piece thing. overall it is a good cup.

If your baby won't take a bottle...this is the sippy cup to try,
This review is from: Thinkbaby Trainer Cup, Orange, 9 Ounce (Baby Product)
At 5 months when baby refused to take a bottle after being exclusively b-fed, we tried tons of different bottles to see if he would take any of them. He would just scream, and I was worried he'd never be able to stay with anyone else for an extended period of time because of it. This sippy was the answer. Since the spout is very similar to a bottle, I imagine it will be taken well by many babies, but the combination of the handles (baby loves to hold them himself) and the new experience of using a trainer sippy worked for us. He takes it without a problem! This is also great because unlike other sippies, it does NOT leak at all! If you drop it, or more likely baby does, it will not get on the floor. The bottle is not very heavy, as it has rather thin plastic walls unlike some sippies. I like this because baby does try to play with it, and I wouldn't want him to hurt his head if it knocks against him. It is easy to clean and dishwasher safe on the top rack. We have been using this same sippy for two weeks now and need to order more...but even with this constant use, it is holding up wonderfully.

Better than most,

I tried the Avent sippy cups and my twins couldn't suck hard enough to get the liquid out. I decided to search for a better and healthier brand of bottles when I came across these. They are similar to the Avent bottles in that they leak if you don't screw them together correctly. I wish the hourglass shape went all the way around because the nipples don't line up pefectly so you have to turn the handle and it no longer lines up with the indented section. I also wish they provided a bottle brush because I prefer to hand wash them even though they are dishwasher safe. I don't run my dishwasher every day and the less any plastic container is heated the better to me. I am using the Avent bottle brush because there bottles have a similar shape but it doesn't get down into the bottom as well as it needs to.

After weeks of trying to transition my 12 month old to a sippy cup, I was ready to try anything. I read about the Thinkbaby cup in an online article, and after reading the Amazon reviews, thought it was worth a try. It took a couple of tries (daughter is on to me and my tricks), but once I could get in in her mouth, she was hooked. Might have helped that I first introduced it in her rocking chair before a nap so she could drink it like a bottle (I'd tried this with other soft spout sippy cups with no success). At the next "bottle" time, she was reaching for the sippy cup as she does for her bottle. If it drips a little, I don't care. I'm just happy to know we're bottle free. We've probably replaced one attachment with another, but I'll fight that battle later.

Don't buy these if your baby is used to BornFree bottles.,

This Thinkbaby trainer cup looked like the perfect transition for my daughter as she moved from bottle to cup, but there was one insurmountable problem. Because my daughter has been drinking out of BornFree bottles, which feature a vacuum-release seal, she was absolutely disgusted with the Thinkbaby cup. She sucked on the mouthpiece until it collapsed (a first for her because the BornFree bottles don't do that), then wanted nothing more to do with it. We have since bought BornFree trainer cups, which are working just fine.

Overall, very good sippy!,

I think my daughter definitely likes this sippy cup! We purchased it because it is free of BPA and other dangerous chemicals. We also use the Born Free training cups as well.
The Thinkbaby cups are nice because they don't have as many parts to wash. The only thing that I don't particularly care for is the fact that sometimes the spout inverts into the cup! The first time I saw the cup like this I thought the spout fell off, but it was just inside the cup! My daughter looked so confused when that happened. It's only happened a few times, but for as expensive as these are, you would think they'd be perfect! However, the cup doesn't leak at all and is very nice. I purchased my Thinkbaby cups from Linen Major and they were $8.99 each. Even though I gave 4 stars, I'd highly recommend this cup!

My son's favorite sippy cup,

We started to give my son Munchkin and Avent sippy cups when was 8 month old. He would like to drink half oz of water per time but refused to take milk from silicon spout. My friend gave me a Thinkbaby for a try and then this cup has been my son's best feeding pal for 8 months.
Comparing to Munchkin and Avent, Thinkbaby cup has a much softer, nipple-like spout which makes the transition easily for young babies. Although the spout does collapse sometimes, it quickly gets back to the shape after baby stops sucking. And it is because the unique design of the collapsed spout (rather than a valve system)that we have never experienced the leaky embarrassment at home, on the road and during international flights. Highly recommended for sippy cup starters. |
