5.0 out of 5 stars Doctoral Level Effectiveness
This book was used at a residency for a doctoral degree program. It provided revelant insight into areas that were gray for some of the academic discipines. The use of the term "everyday" is right on time because the nuances within the book were explained in layman's terms. A very excellent resource for all learners.

The description of the shape book was in was misleading. I feel like it was over priced for the amount of damage that the book was in. Should of been cheaper, along with a picture uploaded of the book so the buyer can see the product before ordering and buying.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing book, June 30, 2008
This review is from: Thinking Socratically: Critical Thinking About Everyday Issues (2nd Edition) (Paperback)
As a University of Phoenix doctoral learner, I have to use this book in several of my program courses. This book is incredibly easy to understand even though it is about such a difficult topic like the one on critical thinking. Any individual pursuing to earn a doctoral level should read this book and use it as a resource for research projects.

Thank you,
Fausto Canela, MS

5.0 out of 5 stars An Outstanding Introduction to Critical Thinking, April 20, 2010
This review is from: Thinking Socratically: Critical Thinking About Everyday Issues (2nd Edition) (Paperback)
I have taught over 20 sections of Critical Thinking using this textbook, and it has always been effective. The authors strike a brilliant balance between the fundamental problems and concepts of philosophy on the one hand and common-sense accessibility on the other. One of the most common comments I receive from students at the end of the course is that this is the one textbook they won't sell back because it is so useful!
If you are teaching a critical thinking class and you want to emphasize argumentation and informal reasoning, this is the book for you.

While an interesting book, if you are not into reading dialogue, and understand the dialogue; I would not purchase this book.
