4.0 out of 5 stars Genuine Lenovo
Another review here seems to have been posted to the wrong page. This battery is made by Lenovo, sold by Amazon, and has the full (5.2Ah) capacity. I just received mine.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good battery but NOT for X61
Aug/10: Was told by seller that this model is NOT meant for X61. So whomever bought this for their X61, you would want to return it.

Aug/10: Ok, new problem showing up. Got this battery in Jun/10. Battery is now saying "plugged in, not charging". I'm loosing battery power!!! I am able to use adapter by itself without battery. Gonna have to knock those stars...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good battery but NOT for X61, July 27, 2010

Aug/10: Ok, new problem showing up. Got this battery in Jun/10. Battery is now saying "plugged in, not charging". I'm loosing battery power!!! I am able to use adapter by itself without battery. Gonna have to knock those stars off if this is the battery's problem. Waiting to hear back from seller.

Jul/10: I have X61 Lenovo ThinkPad. The battery works well. I didn't know these steps about maintaining battery, but after a fluke of forgetting to lock the battery and the battery kept dying on me, I learned these from e-mailing the seller (they are very helpful and gives fast replies)...
1) when you receive it, immediately charge it fully 100%
2) fully discharge it (I discharged it until 5-10%)
3) repeat fully charge/discharge for 2-3 times.
4) "it is recommended that you should use the battery once every two weeks, and keep the battery in the system so that the AC adapter can keep the battery charged at all times. It is also recommended that if you don't use the battery for more than two weeks, you should completely discharge the battery and store it at room temperature"

2.0 out of 5 stars Not recommended, December 27, 2007

The product pictured shows a Lenovo X60/X60s extended battery, while the product being sold by BrtilliantStore is a generic non-branded battery.

Original Lenovo X60/X60s extended battery has a capacity of 5200 mAh, this battery is only 4400 mAh.

This battery doesn't fit well into the laptop, one of the locking mechanisms doesn't easily latch so the battery may accidentally fall-out during use. Additionally, it sticks out further than Lenovo extended battery making the use of the docking station difficult.

1.0 out of 5 stars Ok at the beginning but very short life span, August 29, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Thinkpad X60 Series 8 Cell High Capacity Battery,eight-cell, Rechargeable System (Personal Computers)
I purchased this battery in February 2009. It works well at the beginning. After slightly more than one year of usage, its life starts to decay exponentially. Even after I ran the ThinkVantage battery maintenance program several times, its life still decays at a speed that you cannot control. Right now after full charge, it goes from 100% to 87% in about 15 minutes, and suddenly drops to 3% so that the laptop is forced to shut down. The battery for my previous IBM thinkpad X21 did not decay like this. Right now I'll have a second thought about if I would really like to purchase a brand new one, especially when the price of this product increased by ~10% since last year. Quite disappointed about Lenovo.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than expected, May 31, 2009
This review is from: Thinkpad X60 Series 8 Cell High Capacity Battery,eight-cell, Rechargeable System (Personal Computers)
When I saw the order for this battery was not directly from Amazon, I was concerned. To my surprise the battery arrived a day earlier than expected and the battery was just as I had expected. I saved $50 and 7 weeks of waiting by ordering this through Amazon instead of directly through Lenovo.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just like my original, October 30, 2009

I don't know much about battery specs, so I won't get into that. What I DO know, is that my Lenovo x61 originally got around 5 hours of battery life. After a couple of years, the battery was about shot, providing only about an hour per charge.

After replacing my old battery with this one, I'm back at 5 hours again. At the time I purchased it, I believe it was at least $50 cheaper than a new battery straight from Lenovo, so this was money well spent.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect, June 28, 2009
This review is from: Thinkpad X60 Series 8 Cell High Capacity Battery,eight-cell, Rechargeable System (Personal Computers)
This product arrived in about a week, fits perfectly into my X60s Lenovo Thinkpad (even with the docking station), and lasts 6 hours before the orange low battery light even comes on. For me, that's pretty much perfect!

The original battery gave me maybe 2 hours. I spent all my non-a/c on my computer worrying about battery! The extended battery is just a little bit heavier but a LOT more capacity, more like 4 or 5 hours.

I bought this battery 6 months ago as a replacement for my 3 year old X61s.

I used to work in the laptop battery pack industry, and there's always a concern when buying laptop batteries since they're fairly complicated (relative to cell phone batteries which are simply prismatic cells with a simple wrapper). It's fairly easy to dupe the customer by using mislabeled or cheaper cells since it's hard to spot the differences.

The model and part numbers from the battery I received match what's listed on IBM's web site:
[...]

Using Ubuntu's power statistics, I confirmed that the vendor is in fact Sanyo.

The designed capacity is 75Wh, and the actual max capacity of my received copy was 79Wh. After 6 months of extensive use, my max capacity is still at 75Wh.

On a side note, it is normal for your max capacity to decrease ~20% / year. This is primarily a result lithium's chemical properties and other environmental factors.

I'm quite happy with this battery pack as it's genuine, meets or exceeds design spec, and is still at 100% design capacity after 6 months extensive use. Nothing quite like spending $100 to refresh an old, but fully capable laptop rather than buying a new one for hundreds more.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fits ThinkPad X61S; Lenovo OEM, November 12, 2011
By

This review is from: Thinkpad X60 Series 8 Cell High Capacity Battery,eight-cell, Rechargeable System (Personal Computers)
My Lenovo X61S is going on 4 years old, this is my third battery of this style. Keeping it on AC adapter most of the time seems to wreck havoc with the battery life which is how I went through the 1st one quickly. I now try to use an older 4 cell battery just for AC adapter use as brief power out protection. I save this battery for road use. My last one lasted 2 years.

This one is priced right and fits with no issues. It is marked as a Lenovo OEM battery. For half the price of the Lenovo web site I'm happy!
