I was looking for an NIV Bible that actually had LARGE print. Many of the large print Bibles still have print that is too small for my aging eyes. This edition has 11-point font in a two-column page layout (with red lettering).

It has a very nice two-tone bonded leather cover, a presentation page, a sufficient concordance, and decent maps. This Bible has center column cross-references and alternate translation notes at the bottom of the page. The only thing that could have been done to make this a better reference Bible for me was to add book introductions. Other than that, this Bible seems to meet all my needs in a lightweight, text-only edition.

As a senior I have difficulty reading small print and therefore ordered the above item. But I find it also difficult to read because, though the print is larger than usual, the lines are too close to each other, with very little space in between. There is not enough white space on the pages. I'm afraid I won't be using this bible very much, if at all.

This is a wonderful Bible!

One note: I was expecting an 11 point font, and it turned out to be a 10.5. For those of us that need large print - it may be significant. An 11 point typeface would have been easier for me to read. That said, I got one copy for myself and one for a friend and we both LOVE them! The binding is sewn not glued. The Bible moves nicely and lays flat beautifully. It has center column references, the text is clear and the concordance is good. There is room in the margin to write a word or two but not a lot of notes. The cover feels great and breaks in well. I am happy with the way it is wearing so far. It is a pretty Bible and nicely bound. I use it daily.

The description of this item says that it has "Promises and Perspectives" from the Bible in the back of it. It does NOT contain a "Promises and Perspectives section. I specifically got this one b/c I had seen a friend's Bible w/ this feature. So when I found this one offering the very thing I was looking for, I ordered it. Amazon needs to update their description of this item, hopefully this review will catch their eye and they will do so. People order specific items based on the description provided.

I purchased this bible a few weeks ago from a brick and mortar store and absolutely love it. The craftsmanship and quality is better than any bible I have seen.

The leather cover is real leather, not bonded. It features a smooth and buttery leather that feels good in the hand and is a pleasure to hold. As others have said this leather is stitched and glued in place which is a nice touch. The quality of this leather will ensure that this bible lasts many many years. I recently ran into someone that has owned this bible for three years and his looked exactly like my brand new one and he carries it everyday.

The overall size and format is perfect for an everyday carry bible. It is perfectly at home sitting on your desk at work or being carried to church/Sunday school. The thinness of the bible is just right. Any thinner and it might flop around too much. Any thicker and it wouldn't be as convenient to carry around everyday.

The text and formatting of the written word is perfect for me as well. The size is just right for a "thinline" bible. If you want Giant fonts this isn't the bible for you. Good luck finding a giant text bible that is also thin. Zondervan's type font is great. The more modern font that is used is very crisp and clear making it very easy to read. I have also not found any printing errors. I'm not sure if they changed the version of this bible recently but there isn't any cross referencing anywhere in this bible, in the center or elsewhere, as others have said in their reviews. But like others have said this bible has a very good concordance and map section. All high quality printing here as well.

The only way I could see to improve this bible is to have recessed tabs so I don't have to go to the index. Other wise this is the perfect bible for a gift or for yourself.

In summary:

Pros: Amazing quality and craftsmanship. Superb leather and binding. The perfect format and font. Great price for leather.

We had the previous version which was slightly smaller and thinner and very durable. This new one has a better looking cover and more maps but otherwise a great compact Bible for taking to church and meetings.

We need to purchase bibles for our bible study group--these were durable, very readable in terms of font size and compact enough to carry 12 of them in a bag without being impossible to handle. God's blessing to each one reading this and studing His word no matter which bible you choose! (would recommend the NIV study bible for those doing individual study)

Great Bible at a super price. Italian Duo Tone is a neat binding, durable and classic look.

Definitely one of the best book purchases I've ever made. This is my first bible and I wanted it to be well made and something I could see being with me way into the future - and it is! Leather bound with God's words in red text, maps and NIV. Nothing short of satisfying.
