I received a copy of Thinner in 30 from Netgalley/the publisher in exchange for an honest review. I received my book on November 25th, and have spent the last month reading it and implementing the steps.

I have seen Jenna Wolfe on The Today Show, and I love her enthusiasm, and her sense of humor. This book arrived at the perfect time; with three children and a busy schedule, it isn’t always easy to find time for exercising. I used to push the stroller around the neighborhood with my oldest daughter, but when my twins arrived two years later, pushing a double stroller with two babies and a toddler seemed too daunting. Well, the “babies” are now in first grade, the big girl is in third grade, and I no longer have any excuses. This book was just what I needed.

The book is subtitled “Small Changes That Add Up To Big Weight Loss In Just 30 Days”, and that is just what it does. Thinner in 30 is meant to be read over the course of a month; each day, there is a new tip to incorporate into your routine. These tips are all relatively small: 19 sips of water first thing in the morning, take 10,000 steps a day, write down everything you eat, etc. Eventually, exercising is incorporated into the routine, but the changes are gradual.

So, I suppose I should answer the biggest question: over the course of the month, I lost almost 6 pounds. More importantly, I have gained my motivation back after seeing what I can accomplish. I have not really worked out since high school sports, and even then, I was lazy. But this is something that anyone can do: each exercise is presented with a modifier for people who have difficulty, and a more advanced form for experienced athletes. The workouts are based upon circuit training.

I loved this book and quite frankly I am going to purchase a paper copy as well so I have it to pack around and flip back and forth to look at the exercises, inspirational quotes and many other things I want to refer back to. If you've ever seen the commercial where you have a devil on one shoulder helping you make bad health decisions and an angel on the other shoulder helping you make good health decisions, Jenna is the angel. It's like she knows how you're thinking and knows what to say to keep you encouraging yourself at just the right time. That's why I want a paper copy to go back an flip thru and carry in my purse. I've picked up healthy changes from this book that I will automatically use for the rest of my life, and I'm not even in all 30 changes yet. The best part is I'm losing weight too. The MOST INSPIRATIONAL WEIGHT LOSS BOOK I'VE EVER READ!

Bought this for my wife, but after seeing her stick to these simple tips and lose weight I decided to read it for myself. I wasn't expecting it to be such a fun read, but the humor really helps to explain things!

I received this book from GoodReads in exchange for an honest review. My opinions are my own.

I really enjoyed this book. Everything is broken down into small, easy to manage steps to help you achieve a healthier lifestyle. It’s so easy, it really leaves you with no excuses to not do it.

Not everyone has the time (or money) to spend in an expensive gym; so the workout exercises you can do at home were great.

What to/What not to eat section was helpful. No weird food that a normal person wouldn’t want to eat anyway.

The author also included motivational tips that most books ignore. ‘Don’t hide behind baggy clothes when you work out. See the areas you are working on.’ ‘Set goals and reward yourself for achieving them.’ Etc.

Yeah a lot of these tips can be seen as common sense. But when these common sense steps are arranged in a specific order, they produce result in a way that you have obviously not achieve yet or you wouldn’t have bought the book. Right?

Anyway, I really like the book and I’ve lost 8 lbs. so far; so I’m happy. I’ll give up oxygen before I give up my ice cream, but everything else is really doable.

A super honest book that honestly has everything needed to lose weight. I appreciated the fact that there’s no hype…no spin. Just an honest approach that's a laugh out riot at times, which I’ve never seen before in a weight loss book.

Thinner in 30 is doable! Am I going to lose all my weight in 30 days no but Jenna starts you out slowly and builds. She gives you the tools to pull out of the toolbox. The Pyramids for exercising are awesome because I may not have 60 minutes to devote on certain days all at one time but 10-20 yes. This will be a book of information that I will continue to use. If you’re looking for a book that can jump-start your fitness and health goals for 2016, I’d recommend this book. While some of the ideas are not ground-breaking forays into the world of health and fitness, the reader should find themselves taking notes. I know I did. As someone who regularly works out, the nutrition part, which is half the battle, was also my sticking point. I loved how Jenna broke down each section in easy to understand lingo. She’s not expecting you to count calories, weigh your food or do half marathons out of the gate. What she suggests are simple and effective changes that can motivate even the most resistant person. And Jenna doesn’t expect you to actually commit to these changes within 30 days, so you also go at your own pace. Your only competition is you. What I took away from this book is that small changes do make a difference. In fact, I’ve implemented several from this book and have actually stuck to them. The whole all or nothing mentality goes out the window as does the no pain, no gain motto. People are people, and we all have bad habits. Jenna lets you know that any bad food/fitness behaviors, no matter how big or small, can be changed one step at a time.
