Synopsis:
While experimenting with yoga, neurobiologist David Bolt stumbles on an electrifying discovery--chemically induced ESP. With this fantastic new compound Bolt creates a "third ear" through which he can listen in on the thoughts of others. But his optimistic hopes of world harmony quickly fade in the ensuing din of hypocrisy, lies, and deceit; the "idealistic" politicians, scientists, industrialists, and humanitarians who approach him for the secret are seeking not international co operation but mental dictatorship.
As the complex web of conspiracy tightens, Bolt is scarcely prepared for the biggest shock of all--the sound of a new voice invading his senses and the terrifying realization that another man has discovered his explosive secret!

Like "Donovan's Brain" and "Hauser's Memory" This is a real creepfest. Curt Siodmak was from the old school. In fact he practically invented it. He knew That the stuff that was the scariest was already there in your mind and just needed a little coaxing. He is subtle but he inspires the most horrid fantasies of Doom and disaster. Shock is highly overrated and loses its effect after a while. Fear, anxiety, Trepidation These last much longer and in the end are more satisfying and convincing.
