Product Description

3 Enoch is also known as The Hebrew Book of Enoch, as the evidence suggests it was originally written in Hebrew. 3 Enoch is also known as Sefer Hekhalot, meaning Book of Palaces. In 3 Enoch, Enoch ascends to heaven and is transformed into the angel Metatron. The Talmud does not state this, but the tradition is found in the earliest Kabbalists. Jewish mysticism traces to the Merkabah practices of the 1st c. CE. The goal of Merkabah Mysticism was to enter a trance-like state by means of fasting, meditation, prayer and incantation, and thus ascend to God's heavenly throne room and experience God's Throne-Chariot (Hebrew: "Merkabah"). This is a NEW translation by ancient languages scholar Dr A. Nyland.

5.0 out of 5 stars Necessary for Kabbalists, October 21, 2010
The Third Book of Enoch is about the Merkabah and Jewish Mysticism. It tells how Enoch went to heaven and was transformed into the angel Metatron. The book has names of angels, angelic visions, stations and the like. Fortunately this translator has avoided the use of sexist language which those who rehash the old public domain translations of Enoch have not.

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE it! Fantastic 3 Enoch!!, October 18, 2010
This is for the EDITION of 3 Enoch, not review of 3 Enoch, as I'm not a scholar! I see with a lot of reviews of Enoch, people write reviews about the actual books of Enoch themselves, not reviews about the edition, when there are so many different editions made on the one old public domain translation. This is NOT a public domain translation, this is an original 2010 translation by an ancient language college professor.
It is super easy to read, and flows like a good story. There is lots of additional information, a great introduction, and lots of endnotes.
Now to 3 Enoch - it is a must for anyone into Jewish mysticism, ceremonial magick, enochian language, Kabbalah, and so on. It's all about the Merkabah.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just finished reading Third Book of Enoch, October 7, 2010
This review is from: Third Book of Enoch (3 Enoch, Merkabah Hebrew Book of Enoch) (Kindle Edition)
I have just finished Dr Nyland's Third Book of Enoch and I am absolutely amazed! Why have such wonderful secrets of translation been left undisturbed for so long!!! We are very fortunate to be in an era where translation of the Ancient Hebrew has really become far more accessable and accurate. I am indebted to Dr Nyland's amazing research that has allowed the reader to access such beautiful texts. What I really enjoyed was her clear and succinct writing style and the way she was able to bring these ancient texts to life. This is simply mindblowing work of immeasurable importance. Her capacity to elucidate the original meanings has brought brilliant revelations for me and greatly augmented my faith in my creator!
