The way Clausen develops and carves out his main characters is awesome. Even the marginal players are notable in his work. "Third and Forever" is an excellant read for a rainy weekend.

I enjoyed the first two in this series, and loved this one more. The characters are finely drawn, sympathetic and made of whole cloth. Tears came to my eyes as I read and I hated to finish it.
