Book Description

"A terrific epic fantasy ~ magical, compelling, and romantic!" Susan Mallery, NEW YORK TIMES bestselling author

"It's impressively easy to become immersed in Marton's fantasy world. Readers will find it impossible not to care what happens next..." Kirkus Review

An ambitious, vividly imagined epic fantasy. Marton has created a promising and immersive world that is, at the same time, darkly brutal... the splendor of the author's vision cannot be overlooked." RT Book Reviews

THE THIRD SCROLL

A maiden healer sold to barbarians.

A world of savage warlords and cruel concubines.

When ancient powers collide, can the slave save the realm and the high lord's heart?

"I ADORED.. (the hero). From his initial appearance and those gentle words of promise that no harm would come to...(the heroine), to his accepting manner of all that was her, to his tenderness shown when a barrier for which he waited so patiently to fold was finally crossed. He has to be one of my favourite male counterparts I've read in a while. LOVE him." Bookaroo-Ju Review

"The writing is just beautiful. It flows sometimes like water. I don't know how else to describe it other than to say i enjoyed how it felt reading it." 5 out of 5 Modokker Book Pick Stars

For anyone who enjoyed the fantasy worlds of George Martin's Game of Thrones, C.L. Wilson's Lord of the Fading Lands, Elizabeth Vaughan's Warprize, or the memorably crafted healer heroines in Jean Auel's Clan of the Cave Bear and Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series, THE THIRD SCROLL is the next epic adventure to get lost in.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thoroughly captivating! May 15, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I know a book's been a really great one when I find myself longing to revisit the story and its characters days after finishing. Such was the case with Dana Marton's THE THIRD SCROLL, the first in an excellent new fantasy series featuring enslaved healer Tera and her quest to return to the home that has betrayed her. Tera is an utterly engaging heroine, smart, active, and far braver than she knows. From the moment she is sold as a potential concubine (which is a huge problem as she'll never come into her full healing powers if she loses her virginity before attaining them) with a brutal, warlike people, I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. Though the storyline at first seems simple (gentle, peaceful healers:good, warrior slave-holders:bad) it quickly becomes apparent that there is far more to these cultures than first meets the eye, and that only by working in tandem can they survive a greater threat. Terrific world-building with so many well-drawn, unforgettable characters--I can't wait to read more in this well-written, fast-paced series.

If you're on the fence about this one, try the sample. I can almost guarantee you'll be sucked into Marton's story as quickly as I was.

Very highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another winner for Dana Marton May 24, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I have been a fan of Dana Marton's for years. When I finished the first book of hers and couldn't put it down until finished, I was hooked with her work. For the first time in my life, I went so far as to hunt down earlier books of hers and buy them.

That being said, I have never enjoyed an author jumping genres. Something just seems to go wrong in my experience. This did not happen with Dana Marton. Her ability to keep up an exciting pace of action kept me riveted as always. And her ability to narrow in on occasional details while painting a broad stroke of a scene still worked.

Dana's ability to keep the whole book written in the first person, is exceedingly difficult, but she pulls it off. And she keeps her details in the story line right through the book. It is always nice to have someone work their craft with such style and elegance that you don't even feel as if you are reading a work of fiction, but are watching a movie run before your eyes.

It has been weeks since I have read "The Third Scroll", and the mental images are still there in my head waiting for the next book in the series. Which I eagerly await. Thank you Dana for taking us on this trip with you.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Magical Story May 30, 2012
Format:Paperback
This book is awesome- the story will stick with you for a long time after. I have placed it in my top five favorites of all time. I'm so happy that I had the chance to read this book, and now I'm hooked. If you are not sure you want to read this book -You Should- I formed a strong connection to the main character Tara, and at times I wanted to climb into the book and help her. Dana Marton's writing is strong throughout the story, and I enjoyed it. I was happy with how she wrote the story- Stopping just when she needed to and never took it too far. I can't wait for the rest of Tara's story. I hope to read every book to come in this series- Hardstorm Saga.
