3.0 out of 5 stars Fast paced read!
T.L. Vance's fast-paced novel of love, greed, violence, betrayal and deceit is loaded with tension from the beginning to the end. The plot is intriguing, and the characters are real and complex, faced with dilemmas and choices.

5.0 out of 5 stars Captivating Story, September 7, 2005
This review is from: The Third Son (Paperback)
The Third Son is the story about the forgotten son of one of the most privileged families in England. The first two sons have all the responsibility while "Kells" Berkley remains on his own. Only his grandmother keeps him in the family business, and in the family. Called a screw up, Kells manages to get his life back on track. But one beautiful American slips into his life, bringing chaos, as she teaches Kells to relax a little bit. Together, they fall deep in love but have to figure out how to make their relationship work.

Kells Berkley and Cydney Nash overcome many obstacles to be together. There is his highly privileged family. Her father is a judge in America. Where will they live? They also have a jealous man out to steal Kells' money and hurt Cydney in the process. Will their love manage to survive with the help of their colorful friends?

T. L. Vance wrote a captivating book. I enjoyed it tremendously. Readers will root for the odd couple, first to find each other and then to stay together. Their friends add a big mix into the book. Some are privileged while others seem like normal people, but all are wonderful friends. There is some brutality as the man known as Bryant tries to tear the couple apart.

T.L. Vance's fast-paced novel of love, greed, violence, betrayal and deceit is loaded with tension from the beginning to the end. The plot is intriguing, and the characters are real and complex, faced with dilemmas and choices.

British-born and wealthy, Kells Berkley returns from a trip frustrated that his roommate Bryant has moved a young and beautiful American woman, Cydney Nash, into their home. To further complicate matters, Bryant is engaged to marry Cydney, who he'd only known for three weeks. Kells doesn't understand their relationship or engagement but he understands Bryant. It's not as if Bryant hasn't done something like this before.

Cydney isn't comfortable with her engagement to Bryant. But she does want to apprentice with a prestigious architectural firm. With a chance at her dream job she has agreed to move into Bryant and Kells' home.

Bryant must leave for Rome on business and so Kells and Cydney are together in the men's home. This becomes a difficult situation for Kells as he's attracted to and is falling in love with Cydney.

As love blossoms, Kells tries to resist it and Cydney. It would be a betrayal of his friendship with Bryant to become involved with his friend's fiancee. But is Bryant a true friend? Will events bring Kells and Cydney together or will their relationship be shattered forever?

Armchair Interviews says: The Third Son is a fun fast-paced read that will keep you turning the pages.

3.0 out of 5 stars The Third Son, August 1, 2005
This review is from: The Third Son (Paperback)
To Kellson Berkley, Kells, great astonishment and irritation, his flatmate, Bryant gets engaged and moves the girl into their home within weeks of meeting her. This move comes a short time before Kells is due to return home from his travels and before Bryant is supposed to leave on business. Thus, Kells finds himself living with Cydney, a compelling American girl who he should not be as attracted to as he is. For them to fall in love is against the rules of friendship, but as it turns out, Bry is not that great a friend. His dog in the manger attitude towards Cydney sets in motion a chain of events that could either weave the bond between Kells and Cydney tighter than ever or tear them apart forever.

*** This character driven drama never lets up on the action as a very plausible romance develops. The power of love to sustain people through the worst adversity is made apparent in how the young lovers survive violence, trauma, and sheer prejuidice on the power of their choice to love. ***

5.0 out of 5 stars Mesmerizing till the very end!, May 20, 2005
This review is from: The Third Son (Paperback)
Never has a story captivated me the way this one did. The depth of these characters makes them so realistic that you will be thinking of them long after you finish the book. I've never become more attached to a group of people through print and I know I will read this book repeatedly, constantly hoping for a sequel. THIS is my book of the summer and I will be telling everyone I know to buy it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great read!, October 7, 2005
This review is from: The Third Son (Paperback)
Kellson "Kells" Berkley has sworn off love. Having his heart broken once was enough, and now he's completely devoted to business. At least until his flat mate, Bryant, brings home his new fiancée.

Cydney Nash has been given an opportunity to apprentice with one of London's most prestigious architectural agencies and she jumps at the chance - even though it means an engagement to a man she's known only a few weeks.

When Bryant is called out of town on business and the trip is artificially extended by a few months, sparks fly between Kells and Cydney, igniting a romantic fire that neither expected to find. As their feelings for each other start to grow, the reader can't help but care about this couple and want them to be happy.

Just when it seems that all their dreams have come true, unexpected trouble comes to call, putting both Cydney and Kells in danger. But a romance built on a foundation of friendship is strong, and nothing can stand between them.

"The Third Son" is a fast-paced story full of romance and intrigue. The satisfying conclusion will leave the reader with a smile.
