Book Description

September 9, 2008
For Democrats, Independents, and the majority of Republicans who are fed up with the GOP, a handbook for the most important election in our lifetime. With the indispensable chapters: The John McCain Quiz and Things John McCain is Older Than.

In details that will surprise even close followers of the political scene, veteran political strategist Paul Begala thoroughly makes the case that John McCain would be a third term for George W. Bush. He explodes the myth that John McCain is a maverick, and proves powerfully that he's just four more years of the same old thing.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"With deadly accuracy, wit and fearlessness, Paul Begala demolishes the Myth of McCain. Once a political reformer, McCain has hung a For Sale sign on his most cherished principles and morphed into the second coming of George W. Bush. If you are an admirer of all that George Bush has done to America, you are going to love John McCain. If not, you need to read this book. Give it to anyone you know who is even thinking of voting for John McCain." -- Arianna Huffington

"If you're one of the 20 percent of Americans who love George W. Bush, you'll love John McCain. If you're one of the 80 percent of Americans who don't love President Bush, you'll love this book. It's a must-read for anyone who wants change." -- James Carville

About the Author

Paul Begala was a chief strategist for the 1992 Clinton-Gore campaign, which carried thirty-three states and made Bill Clinton the first Democrat to win the White House in sixteen years. He served as counselor to the president in the Clinton White House, where he coordinated policy, politics, and communications. He is the author of four books, including Is Our Children Learning?: The Case Against George W. Bush; It's Still the Economy, Stupid; and Buck Up, Suck Up...and Come Back When You Foul Up (with James Carville). Begala is a CNN political commentator and a research professor of public policy at Georgetown University's Public Policy Institute. Paul earned both his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Texas, where he was student body president. He and his wife live quietly in Virginia with their four boys and a German shepherd. (Okay, so they don't live too quietly.)

5.0 out of 5 stars Begala Does It Again, September 11, 2008

Combining his trademark wit with some pretty meticulous research, this book once again shows why Paul Begala is, in my opinion, the best mind we've got in the Democratic Party. He completely debunks the Maverick Myth and relentlessly takes shot after shot at the Bush-McCain policy agenda.

Best of all, it's clear that Paul relishes the fight. It's about time Democrats stood up, fought back, and called McCain out for what he has long since become - a George W. Bush, right-wing Republican. Thanks, Paul, for calling a spade a spade.

5.0 out of 5 stars True, September 11, 2008
This review is from: Third Term: Why George W. Bush (Hearts) John McCain (Paperback)
Paul has hit the nail on the head. McCain is no maverick, he is Bush third term. McCain has voted with Bush you can't tell them apart. The conservatives don't want to see anything negative in McCain. Buy this book you won't regret it. Don't listen to the people here that obviously haven't read it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must-read for very undecided voter, September 13, 2008
This review is from: Third Term: Why George W. Bush (Hearts) John McCain (Paperback)
Once again, Begala has written the most informative and entertaining book of the election cycle. Not only does "Third Term" showcase his "Texan sense of humor," but with over 800 endnotes, it is filled with well-documented facts. If anyone is skeptical that a John McCain presidency would be a third term for George W. Bush, this book is sure to change your mind.

FIVE STARS.
