I know this is the cheapest pail liner around - but don't be seduced by the price tag. My son is only 3 months old and hardly a super soaker - yet this bag always feel soggy on the outside come laundry time. Yuck! Sure, paying more for a bag seems scandalous - but, I'd rather see you pay once for a good bag instead of wasting money on this and having to buy ANOTHER one of better quality. Learn from my mistake.

This liner is good, but not the best. It wicks a little bit of moisture to the outside and feels damp when you take it out of the pail, other than that, it works exactly as expected. I haven't tried any other brands as this was the cheapest I could find. There may be better ones out there, but expect to pay more. BTW, this IS the large size bag, it will fit a standard garbage can, not just 6 diapers as described in the product features.

I am very pleased with this product and am buying a second one to put into our cloth diapering rotation. I have an old-fashioned, round diaper pail that is about a 13 gallon size. From my dry pail, I wash 14-16 diapers in a load: Bum Genius with one-size insert plus newborn insert + extra fleece liner (we have a "super soaker" baby). This pail liner fits my pail perfectly, easily carries the soiled diapers to the washer with a quick inside out dump - no mess, no hassle. I wash it and dry it (medium heat) with my diapers PLU side out, and return it to my pail shiny-side in. Very pleased and so I'm buying a second one to use while the other is in the wash.

The title says it all. I bought these pail liners because I was looking for an inexpensive, BPA/phthalate/vinyl free diaper pail liner to suit my cloth diapering needs. (Plus, this item has free shipping...I am a sucker for free shipping!)The pail liner fits into my diaper pail very nicely, and it dries quickly on the drying rack, but those are the only positive things about it. After the first use, I noticed that the bag was wet. I thought it might be condensation, but it was not. After I removed the bag, my diaper pail was wet and smelled like urine. The draw string does not close the bag all of the way, so it is not very useful as a duffle bag either. Actually, the name "Thirsty" really describes this bag. It's almost as if every pore of this bag is thirsty and they suck in all of the wetness from the diapers instead of repelling it!
After doing some more research, I found another eco-friendly diaper pail liner called "pl*net w*se". I found them on an auction website for $16.50 with free shipping (and in a variety of colors)...not sure if I can say the name of the site....but it is the most popular auction/bid website out there! (if you get my hint) These bags are definitely waterproof! I loved them so much, I bought another one after giving the first one a trial run. You KNOW a bag is waterproof when you take it out of the wash and there is water trapped inside. Ever since I made the switch, my diaper pail has been dry and odorless! Thirsties Diaper Pail Liner PROS: 1-Dries quickly when hung 2-Fits nicely into diaper pail 3-low cost & free shipping CONS: 1-Not waterproof 2-Draw string is of poor construction Would I recommend this item? No.

Oct 11, 2009:
Don't buy this bag!!! (Note--I couldn't change the star rating) While the diapers are physically contained, this bag sweats and is damp on the exterior from the diapers after one day. I don't know if its just humidity or if it is urine that is soaking through, but this is not good enough! As I noted earlier, the PUL layer is very thin, so it just didn't do the job. I would like to return this, but I doubt they would refund after 1 month of use. Sept 8 2009: I like having a cloth liner for my pail instead of plastic garbage bags. I wash it with diapers (and let it airdry), so care is easy. So far, no leaks, although the PUL seems much thinner than on my diapers and on some other wetbags that i own, so i wonder how long it will hold out. So far (about 3 weeks) it works well as a pail liner (we have two to alternate while one is in the wash)--and the price was great! However, this bag isn't useful for travel. On a short weekend trip we needed a big wet bag to hold all the diapers till we got back--this bag was stinky by the end and you could smell it throughout the car. the other small wet bags I have hold in the diaper smell better--but those bags have zippers and a thicker PUL lining.

Just the size I needed. If I had bought a garbage pail larger than 46Qt. I would have been out of luck b/c this pail liner is wide enough but NOT long enough for a pail any larger than my 46qt. diaper pail. Easy to clean & I like that. I've owned it for about 1month.

I was looking for an inexpensive diaper pail liner and I got what I paid for! The nylon wicks onto the outside and it is a soggy, smelly mess. My pail smells and I have to wash it out every time. I am buying a better quality liner with PUL to fix this!

This liner fits perfectly into a garbage can - but unfortunately does NOT retain moisture. The diaper pail collects moisture leaked from the liner. At first I thought that this was the bag "sweating" because of the humidity. But, the moisture smells like dirty diapers..........I am going to have to find a replacement. This was a waste of money. Big time.

Wet on outside,
A Kid's Review

This product does a good job keeping wet things off of the floor, but the bag becomes wet. It is supposed to keep liquid in but it doesn't. At first I thought maybe it just felt cool to the touch but was waterproof, but I pulled my hand away and it was wet. Not good for diapers! Not worth the price!

Not good at all,

I'm brand new to cloth diapering and so I thought I'd save myself a little money and buy this pail liner because I figured they couldn't be that different. It turns out this is a complete waste of money entirely! I've been using it for just over 3 weeks now. I've washed it with the diapers and never put it in the dryer. The very first time I took it out of the pail it felt damp all the way around, which I was not expecting. And then after the first week all the seams started falling apart. I sewed some back together and was hoping it would hold up a little longer and then yesterday when I took it out of the washer another seam was undone (and not one I had fixed).
So overall not a good investment at all! |
