Quo's Best,
By Juz Man "Juz" (Hobart, Australia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Thirsty Work (Audio CD)
Reading reviews of other Quo albums, everyone loves telling everyone else whoe long they've been Quo fans for. Most are 30+. I'm not even 30 years old but am quite proud to say I've been a proper Quo fan for over 15 years. I was 13 when dad first exposed me to their greatest hits and I've loved them ever since.
I will also admit to liking their newer material more than their 60's and 70's stuff. I will admit that my favorite song of theirs isn't one of their rockin' classics, it's Living On An Island. Thirsty Work is my favorite Quo album. It's the first Quo studio album I got - other than best ofs - so it also holds some sentimental value with me. I must admit, I don't have this extended edition and haven't heard the bonus tracks but if they are half as good as the rest of the songs here, they will be worthy additions indeed. This album, more so than any of their others is varied in style, fun, instantly likeable and solid through-out. The opener Goin' Nowhere, Soft In The Head, Tango, Sheri Don't Fail Me Now and Rude Awakening Time provide a good solid rock feel. The first single I Didn't Mean It, Sail Away, Back On My Feet, Ciao Ciao and the rampant Queenie provide the fast paced ride we're all used to from the boys, while Point Of No Return and (one of Quo's all time best) Lover Of The Human Race slow things up but keep the melodies going. Things slow down too much on Restless and Sorry and these two songs are the albums only low points. This album has everything a Rock/Pop album should.

refreshing new Quo,
By alan benson (Greenacres,FL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Thirsty Work (Audio CD)
Quo's album,"Thirsty Work" was the first new Quo album in 4 years and their sound is refreshing but still has that Quo rhythm."Going Nowhere" opens the CD with a nice vitality and is followed by the uptempo "I Didn't Mean It"."Confidence" is certainly one of the best tracks on the album and "Soft In The Head" reaks of the infamous Quo 12 bar."Sheri Don't Fail Me Now" is an obvious choice for the single with it's wonderful melody and"Back On My Feet Again" and "Ciao,Ciao" also are very well-produced with the latter having a middle-eastern flavor to the melody."Restless",an old country tune could have never been done by the old band of the 70's and is one of the slower ballad-type songs as well.I love this CD and play it 2-3 times a week in my car.

poppy quo but good quo,
By
This review is from: Thirsty Work (Audio CD)
Thirsty work was one of the bands more poppy efforts. It is the quo type of poprock though and that's more rocky for sure than most pop drivel. Too long time fans like me at the time though , this one was a good cd but I wanted more of a straight forward rockin one , and they didn't give me that till the 00's again. they instead put out some solid pop rockers like this one, 'don't stop' , 'under the influence' , then the cover cd 'famous in the least century' (old rock songs redone by quo) that was three in a row that older fans could enjoy but not love perhaps. I can say that there's lots of good pop rock here though. and like every quo cd they had hit singles on it! GO QUO!
QUo is one of the best rock bands of all time. But on this cd it's just not their peak in style or such. Songs like 'sherry" would make few rock fans faves list. But a weaker quo cd is better than alot of pop artists best.
