5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing book!
This book is really good!! The format of the book is different than 11, 12 and 13, but 13+1 is still really amazing! As always, the book opens with Winnie's birthday, this year being, obviously, 14. The book goes into more depth about Lars and Winnie and the problems they are facing. Also, there are some shocking moments regarding Dinah throughout the book. This book...

3.0 out of 5 stars Winnie is NOT a normal 14-year-old!
I think my biggest issue with this series is that Winnie is NOT normal for the ages for which the books are titled. She's much more matured and thoughtful than most of the kids between 11-14 years, and I do NOT recommend that girls of 12 start kissing just because Winnie did! By 14 years, she's kissing "for a long time"!! Having said that, I did enjoy the writing - but I...

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing book!, June 15, 2010
This review is from: Thirteen Plus One (The Winnie Years) (Hardcover)
This book is really good!! The format of the book is different than 11, 12 and 13, but 13+1 is still really amazing! As always, the book opens with Winnie's birthday, this year being, obviously, 14. The book goes into more depth about Lars and Winnie and the problems they are facing. Also, there are some shocking moments regarding Dinah throughout the book. This book containes more problems than the other books, but I think that is what made it really good. Winnie and Lars; Winnie, Cinnamon and Dinah; Cinnamon and boys; Dinah and Mary Woods (a new minor character) -- All of these characters have problems. Overall, the book was great! I would recommend reading this book to anyone who is at least 12. Read 11, 12 and 13 before reading this book though!!

4.0 out of 5 stars My Review, February 20, 2011
This review is from: Thirteen Plus One (The Winnie Years) (Hardcover)
13 Plus 1 is a great book about a girl named Winnie, her boyfriend Lars, and her two best friends, Cinnamon and Diane. In the beginning of the book it is Winnie's birthday and her boyfriend gives her a gift card. She hates it but does not tell him she really wanted a cupcake. In addition, she does not even get a cake it was a bad birthday. A while after that her friend Diane is found covering up for someone> It turns out that that girl is stealing and hiding stuff in Diane's locker. Meanwhile Lars just told Winnie that he is going to Germany for the summer with his family. Winnie does not want him to go but he has to. She and Diane find a camp to go to but Cinnamon does not want to go. When they finally get to a camp to save sea turtles they find out that Cinnamon is there to surprise them. After they are settled in Lars calls, he says that the trip to Germany is canceled and wants Winnie to come home. Winnie says no and they get into an argument. While at camp Cinnamon and Diane find boyfriends and Winnie starts to miss Lars. Winnie calls Lars and finally tells him that she wanted a cupcake not a stupid gift card for her birthday. Lars laughs but not in a bad way he is relieved but Winnie hangs up on him. Winnie finds out that a boy likes her from camp and wants to kiss her but she says no. Winnie then feels someone hugging her Lars! In his hand is a cupcake! They make up and kiss and all of them go home. When they get home, Winnie's sister goes to college. I really like this book because it was exciting and had a lot of suspense.

5.0 out of 5 stars Buh duh buh buh buh... IM LOVING IT!!, February 14, 2011
This review is from: Thirteen Plus One (Kindle Edition)
I love this book so much. I actually love the entire series, it is my favorite series out all the books I read. Me being a twelve year old teenage girl, I love a good summer book, even though when I read this book it was the winter. But with that being said, I have some suggestions on how to best enjoy this book series.

1.) Buy, borrow, or rent all the books and stack them by your bedside table or some place that you are every day. Like a comfy chair near a table, or perhaps in your bathroom (just kidding! unless you really want to).
2.) Be at least between the ages of ten and fifteen, and have some background knowledge on puberty and mean girls. You can also be a very immature adult to read this book, but you may find it the tiniest bit boring.
3.) You will need a yearn to read these books, because there are five of them. You may want to read these books during the summer, because usually most girls have a lot of time on their hands during the summer.
4.) YOU NEED TO BE A GIRL TO READ THIS BOOK!!!!

Other than those hopefully helpful guidelines, I pray that you will enjoy these books just as much as I did, which is10000000000% of extreme love! Thank you so much Lauren Myracle for giving me more confidence than I could have ever dreamed of.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this series, January 23, 2011
This review is from: Thirteen Plus One (The Winnie Years) (Hardcover)
My 13 year old loves this series and has read them all. She is re-reading the series right now. I think they are a great series to be reading, because while it is not 100% reality, but has the basic facts that are harder to talk about with your daughter. I am very glad that my daughter finds pride in reading these books.

5.0 out of 5 stars great book, December 31, 2010
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Thirteen Plus One (The Winnie Years) (Hardcover)
this book was, in my opinion, way better than 11, 12, or 13. it had a different format, of which i thought was better, and i liked better that the location of the book was mainly at the beach. i would say that this book is a great purchase if you like the others in the series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good book!, July 14, 2010
This review is from: Thirteen Plus One (Kindle Edition)
This book fits right into the series, and picks up whre THIRTEEN left off. I enjoyed the book, but wish camp had been more interesting. Overall, it was an amzing book.

I do have to disagree with the reviewer wo said Winnie is not a normal 14 year old. I know several friends who are younger than her and kiss "for a long time." Just saying, it isn't nesseccilary (sorry, I know I spelled it wrong) a good thing, but it i true to most teenagers now.
