This is the third book by Ruth and Warren Myers, and each is a blessing to start and/or end each day of the month with. When words elude you in your prayers and meditations, they have the Scriptures permeated throughtout their writing to speak God's word for you. The introduction to "31 Days of Prayer" tells their story and how these little books evolved. They have made wonderful gifts to give.

"A Nice Daily Reading...In 31 Days!",
This review is from: Thirty-One Days of Power: Learning to Live in Spiritual Victory (Paperback)
This book is a wonderful read, if you are looking for a "devotional style" book, written so that you the reader, can open it on a daily basis, for 31 days. Each day holds a new reading in store, with a scripture reference to go along with it. And that right there, is my only true qualm with the book; it would be so nice to have the scripture actually written out for the reader to be able to relay to him or herself much easier, than having to go and research and look it up. Though, it is no problem for a reader as myself to do so, it may be much easier for others, especially if one is looking for a quick, daily reading, instead of a teaching. All in all, it is a wonderful and easy read for young and old alike! It would definitely make for a nice little, uplifting gift of encouragement for most any occasion. As per FTC guidelines, I must state that I was given a review copy of the book "Thirty One Days of Power" from the publisher to read and review. My opinions are expressly my own, and are in no way ever made positively or negatively due to receiving this review copy.

31 days of Power by Ruth Myers,
This review is from: Thirty-One Days of Power: Learning to Live in Spiritual Victory (Paperback)
My first initial response to this book was that I didn't like the way it felt in my hands. It felt like a cheap book. I also didn't particularily care for the way the cover of it looked. However, the contents of this book was excellent.
The author shared some of the experiences with spiritual warfare that she and her late husband had while being missionaries in Asia. Also it was shared of there being spiritual warfare during the time her husband had gotten sick until the day of his death. I'd say that is pretty hefty experience. The main jest of this book appears to be that a person should not have their full attention being on warring with demons but with helping others to be better aligned with God. It goes on to say that some may be called as full time deliverance ministers but not many. That the authors opinion of why some are called to deliverance ministry full time is because many will not do their part so a select few have to step up and do the greater part. There is a reading for 31 days. There are prayers based on scripture which I like a lot. While reading this book I felt so content and felt the presence of the Holy Spirit. I recommend this book. I received this book for free from Water Brook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review.

Prayers of Power,
This review is from: Thirty-One Days of Power: Learning to Live in Spiritual Victory (Paperback)
This book wasn't quite what I was expecting it to be. I thought that it would be a 31 day devotional, which it is, sort of. It was more like 31 days of devotional prayer. That isn't bad; it just wasn't what I was expecting. The book is divided into two sections. First, there is the section that contains the 31 daily prayers/devotionals. Second, there is a section that is about spiritual warfare. To me it seemed that the two sections should have been in the reverse order. What Myers has done with this book is basically write 31 daily prayers that focus on different areas of the Christian walk. The prayers seem to be based on Scripture verses, as many of them have a Scripture references at the end of them. I would have preferred to have some of the verses actually written in the book too. That way if I wanted to read the Scripture itself, I wouldn't have to look it up in the Bible myself. Overall, the book was an easy read. Each devotional is only a few pages and doesn't take long to read through. That makes it easy to read every day for the 31 days. At the end of several daily readings there is also an area where you can write in responses to an ending question. I thought this was a neat idea that really added to the book. I would recommend this book to someone who is a new Christian as I think it would be insightful and helpful. I was given a free copy of this book to review by Watermark Multnomah Publishing.

Great springboad to dig into God's word,
By
This review is from: Thirty-One Days of Power: Learning to Live in Spiritual Victory (Paperback)
I'm always hesitant when there is an outcome is given in a set number of days. For example, you go on a cabbage soup diet for 7 days and then lose up to 10 lbs. and although Ruth Meyer's book is titled 31 days of Power: Learning to Live in Spiritual Victory - she doesn't give a quick fix at all. Her book points to God's word as a springboard to delve deeper into my study of the God I profess to believe in.
From the introduction, she shares clearly that she's no expert but has definitely found the truths she's learned from God's word over the years, as a missionary overseas, to have been a great source of strength and wisdom. She specifically talks of digging into God's word, daily. As I read her book, I found that I was continually reminded to look back at Jesus and His word, not on my present circumstance or the circumstances that those around me may be facing. I was especially encouraged by the last chapter that focuses on Best Resistance. Here she reminds the reader of our Positive Calling, our Startling Power, and the importance of Prayer. What a great reminder of the power of Christ in our lives to enable our earthly days. Read the book, you won't be disappointed.

Thirty One Days of Power,

This review is from: Thirty-One Days of Power: Learning to Live in Spiritual Victory (31 Days Series) (Hardcover)
In Thirty-One Days of Power: Learning to Live in Spiritual Victory, authors Ruth and Warren Myers focus on praying the word of God. I believe that prayers that are laced with scripture are the most powerful prayers that can be prayed.
I have found some of the daily readings over the 31 days to be particularly helpful. One worth mentioning is Day 25 because at times I struggle with the use of my time. Ruth and Warren have stated in prayer format "May I let You show me how to use my time, where to focus my attention and how to handle my emotions." This is a great prayer for me to remember to pray often throughout my day. One of the other things I like about this book is where the authors have left journaling space at the end of their reading where I can personally write. In this space I often date and write in specific names and circumstances as I make them a matter of personal prayer for that day. Finally, at the end of this little devotional is a wealth of information regarding Spiritual Warfare that is well written primarily because the Warrens have used not only their own words but the words of Christ. I recommend this book, especially for those who want to learn to pray Scripture or those who find themselves in a spiritual battle. (*disclaimer* I was given this book at no cost from Multnomah in exchange for my honest opinion about this book. All opinions are mine and mine alone!) Beth Pederson

"31 Days of Power" Learning to Live in Spiritual Victory by Ruth Myers with Warren Myers. Published by Multnomah Publishing. I received no compensation for my review of "31 Days of Power". I was given a complementary copy of 31 Days of Power to read and write an objective review through Multnomah Publishings blog review program.
First of all, I have to say I am very biased when it comes to Ruth and Warren Myers. I just love their books, they have been such a blessing to me in my Christian walk. They are so packed with information that is helpful to a new Christian, a mature Christian. They are easy to read and easy to implement. From the back cover. Your power in spiritual warfare is as close as a whisper, as near as a prayer. As a follower of Jesus, you are engaged in a battle against a treacherous enemy. But the mighty power of God is yours through Christ's victory on the cross of Calvary. The daily readings in this uplifting devotional are steeped in Scripture blended with praise to bring foundational truths to life - to help you wield the power of God that's available in all our afflictions in every trial and temptation. The truths in these pages will equip you to resist the forces of evil, to stand firm in a day of deepening darkness, and to know firsthand the truth of Romans 8:37 "In all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us." Are you fighting a spiritual battle? or perhaps a battle? Depression, loneliness, grief, loss, anger, disappointment, hurt? Then this book will be beneficial to you. The book is written so no matter your spiritual maturity it will help you access the power given to you by God. One thing I love about this book is that it is based on Scripture and it is steeped with Scriptural references. There is power in the Word of God. I love the fact that Ruth Myers leads you back to it time and time again. As the reader you are given words to pray for victory, leads you in praying the Word. She keeps reminding you that you are not powerless, that God has given you power over your enemy. This book can be used as a devotional to read with your daily studies each day for 31 days or you can read it straight through. I like to read the book once through and then use it again for 31 days as my devotional to go deeper with the Lord. I hope you will be as blessed by this book as I have been. I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review. Until Next Time, M

31 Days of Power Learning to Live in Spiritual Victory,
By
This review is from: Thirty-One Days of Power: Learning to Live in Spiritual Victory (Paperback)
In Thirty-One Days of Power: Learning to Live in Spiritual Victory, authors Ruth and Warren Myers show you how to raise the Sword of the Spirit by praying God's Word. Each day focuses on a different aspect of God's perfect work and plan and the victory found in Christ and His triumph over Satan.
I found the book well balanced with the scriptures predominantly focused on God, who He is, what He has accomplished and is able to do. The authors warn the reader about the mistake people tend to make: "So we can blame too much on Satan; we can give him credit beyond his due." Through praying scriptures, the authors keep the focus on God and victory that we can have through Him. In addition to putting on the full Armor of God, the 31 Days of Power also includes chapters on the "Commander of Victories", "Exalted Lamb, Defeated Foe" and the "Good and Mighty Shepherd" among others topics. The last section of the book talks about "The Dynamics of Spiritual Warfare". I recommend this book, especially for those who want to learn to pray Scripture or those who find themselves in a spiritual battle. 31 Days of Power would make a good yearly devotional allowing you to pray the powerful Scripture verses again and again.
