One of the few bands who did rap-metal right,
This review is from: This Is 24-7 Spyz (Audio CD)
Nu-Metal has become a refuge for bad rappers and worse guitar players. Rhyming words don't make it Rap, and distorted guitars don't make it Metal. 24-7 Spyz was a uniquely talented and innovative band, combining massive doses of hard-rock crunch with stinky funk and clever lyrics. Jimi Hazel is one of the best guitar players you've never heard of. There are only 5 songs on here, but they are all excellent. If you can find any 24-7 Spyz CDs, they are well worth purchasing. This may have been their best lineup.

I was going through my cassette tapes, trying to decide what I wanted to get on CD. This odd tape brought back memories. At least on my cassette tape, both sides of the tape are completely identical. It must be some sort of demo. Anyway, it's a precursor to a lot of bands like Living Colour, Sevendust, even Hed PE. It's hard and funky. I categorized it in my "funk metal" file with groups like Red Hot CP and Primus. I was curious if Amazon had anything on it. It would definitely be hard to find, but if you can get it cheap, go for it!

Nice EP by the band to get the unfamiliar familiar with their sound.I really like the versions of Earthquake(Graham Central Station)and Peace and Love(Mandrill). Some good stuff to rock out to!These guys were woefully under-rated as I understood they came along around the time of the Living Colour tidal wave and just got washed away which is really too bad.Jimi Hazel has to be one of the best guitarist I have ever heard and the band is tight and funky in whatever genre they attempt.Their first album "Harder Than You" is just as good a debut album as "Vivid" by LC in my eyes.Get some of their stuff and rock it out!
