Bought this in '93 for a NY house party, on a suggestion from the store DJ at Tower records on Broadway/4th. He played one of the NightTrain tunes which was enough to get me started for the party. It worked for the host& her DJ too that the entire CD was played eventually during the course of the night. Guys this is experimental fun in the house tunes for those who like to listen to jazz, but like to get off their a*z to dance. It's the beginning of the funky urban house jazz fusion, a classic with simple rockin beats. It may be dated, but the underlying current of beats are still sampled today. And for the many who love to chill it is smooth&cool and for those who like to move to the beats it is s a feel good rhythm. You'll feel it, when you listen to it.

Everybody has different tastes.
I first heard this CD ten years ago and I still think this CD rocks. The grooves are fun, happening and not too repetitive. Nice variety of styles and some really enjoyable tracks. Perfect for background cool and upscale mix.

Try it -- I think you'll like it.

Closing in on ten years old, this album is sounding dated. You might consider shopping around for a better mix. Compilations are always a mixed bag, and this is no exception -- when I picked this up in '95, I only enjoyed a few of the funkier tracks. The rest were a bit repetitious and didn't find the groove I was looking for. Today, there's maybe one that I still enjoy.
