5.0 out of 5 stars the wait was worth it!!
OH MY GOD!!! that's all i have to say about this album..
i've been a fan of scarlet ever since the ep "something to lust about" came out, and have loved every second of scarlet. although "cult classic" wasn't as good as i had hoped it would be...it was still worth listening to. after about 2 years though and no news from the band (their website not existing anymore,...

1.0 out of 5 stars R.I.P. Scarlet
the real scarlet died when the singer left. this album does not do the first two albums any justice. if you were disappointed by this and have not heard their first two albums, please give them a chance because they represent the true scarlet.

i've been a fan of scarlet ever since the ep "something to lust about" came out, and have loved every second of scarlet. although "cult classic" wasn't as good as i had hoped it would be...it was still worth listening to. after about 2 years though and no news from the band (their website not existing anymore, and no new news on the ferret site), i feared that they had broken up again. was i surprised when i found out that they had a new cd coming out....HELL YEAH!! i was ready for more insane music. (although some of my friends were a little held back because they thought it would sound like cult classic) well i picked the cd up the other day and it is without a doubt one of the best cds of it's genre. it;s definitely on my top cds of 06 already.
with a sound that is sort of a mixture between dillinger escape plan/ norma jean (new)/ and fear before the march of flames....this cd owns...all 36 min and 20 seconds of it. they have a new vocalist who just tears it up with his screams....and the guitar player's singing comes through more. there's actually singing on all but like 2 songs...and the first track is completely all singing.
all i can say is get this cd, because you will love it just as much as i do.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Stuff..., July 24, 2008
Yeah, refreshing slab 'o' hardcore, Scarlet has definately got something going for them that every other kind of band like this seems to lack. This is their best album in my opinion, love the new singer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just Listen To It, December 24, 2006
This is the epitome of what hardcore can be. Is the music a more refined version of scarlet? Yes. Are the vocals revamped and more melodic? Yes. Is this bad? No.

Just because a group has learned how to write real songs is not a bad thing. The record is heavy and tight, and when the melodic vocals are used (sparingly I might add) it's not the corny mtv2 junk that most people are into today.

And that's probably why the release wasn't super popular. It's a great band releasing a well-written album, not something pandering to either the popular or elitist audiences. Bottom line: the past scarlet releases were pretty damn good, but this is much much better.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best albums EVER, December 14, 2009

This review is from: This Was Always Meant To Fall Apart (Audio CD)
This album is simply amazing and could have made Scarlet a household name in the metalcore world. The change of singers between this album and the last introduced a beautiful, dark element of singing and catchiness that the previous albums seemed to lack. Don't get me wrong, I love the previous albums, but this album has it all. The music is top notch. The breakdowns make me want to jump out of my skin. It's a damn shame these guys broke up. If you are looking for one of the best hauntingly wonderful, heavy albums this decade, look no further than This Was Always Meant to Fall Apart. Put it this way, I've had this album for over three years now and somehow still feel the need to post a review.

2.0 out of 5 stars Ohh the monotony!, February 13, 2006
My friend showed me this band the other day. I didn't have very high hopes of course. The screaming is obsessively annoying and repetitive and many guitar riffs are recycled. The actual singer has a decent voice. They need to kick out screamo kid guy and let him take the vocal helm. Other than this there is not too much new about them. For all the loud pounding songs they are actually very boring and annoying. I mean hell I listen to stuff much heavier and faster than this and it even gives me a headache. Sorry kids they f*ckin pretty much suck.

This album gets a D+
