It dispels myths, and present an Asian perspective that can be applied by anyone.

The book is presented in 4 parts - dieting, exercise tips, nutrition, and refocusing your body. The book has personal tips from champion bodybuilder and sportsman Phan Ching Jung (CJ), as well as scientific knowledge from antioxidant researcher and business/technology expert Dr Seamus Phan.

Seamus is a published author, having published books, ebooks, video and audio training materials on service quality, Internet, ISO 9000, ISO 14000, and e-business. He is a TV and radio commentator, contributing editor and analyst to world-class media such as TechTV, CNBC, NewsRadio, CMP Media, and CNET. He is an accredited journalist of ASPBE and NWU. Seamus earned a doctorate in business (Greenwich) and a masters in information technology and distance education. He was inducted in the Marquis Who's Who in the World, the International Biography Centre (UK)'s Men and Women of Distinction, and the Barons 500 Leaders of the New Century, alongside the likes of Sir Arthur C Clarke, Bill Gates and President George W Bush.

Phan Ching Jung (CJ), LLB (Hons), more commonly known as CJ to friends, is a law graduate with the National University of Singapore (NUS). Instead of pursuing a lucrative legal career with his highly rated moot court skills, he chose instead to turn to custom jewelry instead. Since 1989, CJ has worked deep in the mines of South America, and studied first hand where and how to mine for the best quality natural rock crystals and semi-precious stones. CJ has participated in international gem and jewelry shows in Europe, USA and Asia, and is a wholesale stockist of some of the most exquisite semi-precious as well as precious stone specimens as well as finished jewelry. CJ is a skilled custom jewelry designer, with a keen eye for unique design loved by many, as well as a practical knowledgebase to ensure that what is designed can be manufactured (unlike less skilled pure designers). CJ is also a bodybuilding champion, with many gold medals to his name. His most recent wins were a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games and the Singapore Nationals competition with a gold medal in the light-middleweight category. His skills in creating symmetry, mass, and deep definition is known even among fellow bodybuilders. He is often mistaken to be a Hawaiian due to his unique looks and physique. He loves to read, and is a great conversationalist.

5.0 out of 5 stars Truly inspirational from this side of the world!, November 6, 2002
This review is from: This Body This Life (Paperback)
I have read self-help books that purport happiness to be based on generating millions of dollars, or getting million-dollar real estate. However, this book by the Phan brothers actually provides a health-centric and holistic approach to getting genuine happiness. After all, happiness is a lifelong goal and can be achieved by anyone, regardless of culture, wealth or desires. This is like a health-driven book with a personal angle akin to the Art of Happiness book, albeit in a much more humble way. I recommend this book, since it presents the "if I can do it, so can you" way that appeals to all of us ordinary people.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great stuff from an unusual tag team of authors, March 24, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: This Body This Life (Paperback)
Strange mix of co-authors, being two brothers. Very rare indeed. The book has an underdog feel of its style, with very honest, down-to-earth, no-nonsense writing by the two brothers. There is a spread of content from dieting, weight training (a mainstay of the brothers), and even yoga and meditation, with detailed reporting and research into the various topics. A must read for anyone looking for a NON-dummies guide to health and fitness, and yet written in a simple, unpretentious manner.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book from Asian authors on holistic health!, November 7, 2002

This review is from: This Body This Life (Paperback)
There are far too many health or self-help books from the West, which borrows heavily against Eastern health practices and philosophies. It is refreshing to see Asians in Asia writing a holistic health and fitness book to target global readers, and a high quality book on that as well. Highly recommended for anyone who is serious about dieting, nutrition, exercise without a gym, and life extension principles.
