Book Description

"If you have been dreaming about getting out of your routine and into the big world, this book is for you. If you have already been out in the big world and you enjoy the considerate observations that often come from travel, this book is for you. If you just can't get away, but hearing about someone else's adventures can take you there, this book is for you." -Lindsay LaShell

2 years on the road. 1 backpack. 15 countries. Banned from one. Stories about Nepal, Colombia, Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, Australia, Kenya, Qatar, UAE, Panama and more. This book is about the days, people, stories, ethics and philosophy that bridged the trip. What is modern travel? Why are you not on the road?

"More of an anti-guidebook than a specific travel guide, This Book Is About Travel will take you places."
-Brad Feld - Foundry Group
"Andrew gave up his routine, comforts and all his possessions - except his backpack - to live a life that most only dream about."
-Kathy Sierra
"This book is much more than a travel log. It is a portrait of the inquisitiveness of the human spirit, narrated by an objective, analytical and self-aware voice."
-Natty Zola

Andrew Hyde spent the last two years on the road traveling to 15 countries with only a backpack of 15 things to his name, this book is a collection of stories as a critique of the world of modern travel.

5.0 out of 5 stars Avid Traveler June 6, 2012
By Corbett
Format:Kindle Edition
As an avid traveler, this book was perfect plane (or train, bus, tram or ship) reading from a like soul. Excellent mix of stories, tips, interviews and tricks, mixed in with humor and delivered an approachable style. I'd recommend to anyone going on, or contemplating, a journey soon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspiring! June 6, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
The world is full of people telling you what you can't do. Andrew is here to remind us to ignore those people and jump into life with both feet.

This book is not only an energizing read, but it's also gorgeous. Reminiscent of an Alain de Botton title, "This Book Is About Travel" is a collection of brief, inspiring essays juxtaposed with some truly marvelous travel photography. As a veteran traveler, "This Book Is About Travel" stirred some deep longings for a cocktail in Cambodia and another hunt for rhubarb pie in Germany. Feeling ho-hum about your 9-5? Flip open to a page and book a damn plane ticket already. As Andrew reminds us, we don't need a savings account or years of planning to explore the world -- we just need us.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thoughtful, hilarious, motivating June 5, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
If you have been dreaming about getting out of your routine and into the big world, this book is for you.
If you have already been out in the big world and you enjoy the considerate observations that often come from travel, this book is for you.
If you just can't get away, but hearing about someone else's adventures can take you there, this book is for you.

Andrew tells great stories, he shares big thoughts, and he keeps insisting that long-term, round the world travel is available to just about everyone. Highly recommended!
