Book Description

March 1, 2004
In New York Times bestselling author Kasey Michaels's heartwarming sequel to This Must Be Love, madcap heiress Molly Preston finds herself babysitting a Broadway producer's niece and nephew...and fast becoming the leading lady of his life. If Molly Preston marches to the beat of a different drummer, it's probably a naked bongo player. Gorgeous and free-spirited, Molly's set for life--provided she stays employed ten months out of the year as stipulated in her parents' will. To keep the inheritance flowing, she works as a lingerie model, a mansion-sitter, a singing-slash-rollerskating carhop...you name it, Molly's done it. But a weekend gig babysitting her cousin Jane's daycare business might just lead to something permanent with would-be client Dom Longstreet. He's a Broadway producer who could make all her dreams come true...if only she'd let him. Dom's idea of "summer vacation" is hosting a working retreat for the cast of his upcoming musical spectacular. Sure, he's also promised to babysit his niece and nephew for two weeks, but that's what the local daycare center is for, right? Unfortunately, the place will be closed just when he needs it, according to the beautiful--and exasperating--woman he finds in charge. In exchange for room and board on his estate, Molly Preston agrees to watch the kids. But Dom can't stop watching Molly, who's fast becoming the unlikeliest of muses...and maybe--just maybe--his perfect leading lady.

Editorial Reviews

From Booklist

Molly Applegate epitomizes the term poor-little-rich girl. Her parents neglected her; then, when they died, they left her extremely wealthy only if she works 10 months a year or gets married. Defiant by nature, she takes menial jobs and flits across the world until she gets her cousin Janie, from This Must Be Love (2003), involved with one of her schemes. Janie takes Molly's jobs, and Molly works at Janie's day-care center. Molly loves working with children, and when Broadway producer Dominic Longstreet asks her to babysit his niece and nephew for two weeks, Molly agrees. Dom is supposed to be on vacation and staying with the children, but, instead, this workaholic uses the time to work on his latest play, until he gets sidetracked watching the incredibly attractive, and mutually attracted, babysitter. When things progress beyond a fling, Molly, still bedeviled by her traumatic childhood, goes into flight mode. This thoroughly entertaining romance filled with unforgettable characters keeps readers wanting more from the ever-prolific and deservedly popular Michaels. Patty Engelmann

5.0 out of 5 stars Can I give this 6 stars????, March 23, 2004
This review is from: This Can't Be Love (Paperback)
Good Golly Miss Molly aka Molly aka Margaret Applegate is an heiress to a fortune although sshhhhhh, it's a secret! Ignored by her parents and being shipped to every private school in the country, Molly has grown into a free-spirited and independent woman just looking for fun. After her parents death, she learns that she must hold down a job (any job) for 10 months out of the year to maintain her inhertiance, or she can marry to receive all her money, but Molly will not settle for that.

Molly is in the right place at the right time. Watching over her cousin Janie's day care when she meets Dominic Longstreet. He is a big time Broadway producer just looking for a safe place to dump his neice/nephew for two weeks while his brother is on vacation so that they will be out of his hair. Bad new, the day care is closing and will not be able to watch the kids...enter Miss Molly with her gorgeous red curls and long legs. She decides to play nanny for a couple of weeks to help him out...poor girl, she gets to move into a mansion supplied with everything her heart desired. But, remember...she's got plenty of money of her own...but, it's a secret.

I ****LOVED**** this book!!! It was extremely funny and will have you laughing out loud. Maybe the idea of a handsome millionaire not being to find childcare on his own is a little far-fetched, but this is fiction people....isn't that why we read it? Molly's character is someone that I would LOVE to have as a girlfriend. She's charming, hillarious, and has a heart of gold when she lets someone get close enough.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that Michaels will write a sequel to This Can't be Love b/c I would love to know how Molly & Dom's life emerges.

5.0 out of 5 stars Likeable characters enrich a hilarious romance!, May 3, 2004

Kasey Michaels' books are a hit-and-miss proposition for me. Some, I absolutely LOVE. Others, I find the characters self-centered and annoying. Luckily, "This Can't Be Love" is of the former variety.

All the characters in this book are extremely likeable (with the exception of those that aren't supposed to be!). Both the major and minor characters are reasonably well-developed. And this book is hilarious! I laughed out loud while reading it.

Michaels also does a good job of developing the romance between Molly and Dom -- Molly especially really has to work through some issues. Those issues are nothing new in romances -- something Michaels actuallly pokes fun at by calling Molly a "textbook case." Still, Molly's so much fun, and so loving, that you're rooting for her the entire time.

A great read I couldn't put down!

5.0 out of 5 stars A funny romantic read!, March 21, 2004
This review is from: This Can't Be Love (Paperback)
I read this book on my recent vacation and I must say I was impressed! This is the first time I've read Kasey Michaels, and I loved it. The charactor of Molly is well developed, and we see why she acts the way she does. After I read this, I read her book "This Must Be Love" which brings in Molly's cousin Janie. You should ideally read that first before this one. These books take place at the same time with the books interweaving their respective storylines, which is neat. I would recommend this book to anyone - but read the other one first!
