Can I give this 6 stars????,
This review is from: This Can't Be Love (Paperback)
Good Golly Miss Molly aka Molly aka Margaret Applegate is an heiress to a fortune although sshhhhhh, it's a secret! Ignored by her parents and being shipped to every private school in the country, Molly has grown into a free-spirited and independent woman just looking for fun. After her parents death, she learns that she must hold down a job (any job) for 10 months out of the year to maintain her inhertiance, or she can marry to receive all her money, but Molly will not settle for that. Molly is in the right place at the right time. Watching over her cousin Janie's day care when she meets Dominic Longstreet. He is a big time Broadway producer just looking for a safe place to dump his neice/nephew for two weeks while his brother is on vacation so that they will be out of his hair. Bad new, the day care is closing and will not be able to watch the kids...enter Miss Molly with her gorgeous red curls and long legs. She decides to play nanny for a couple of weeks to help him out...poor girl, she gets to move into a mansion supplied with everything her heart desired. But, remember...she's got plenty of money of her own...but, it's a secret. I ****LOVED**** this book!!! It was extremely funny and will have you laughing out loud. Maybe the idea of a handsome millionaire not being to find childcare on his own is a little far-fetched, but this is fiction people....isn't that why we read it? Molly's character is someone that I would LOVE to have as a girlfriend. She's charming, hillarious, and has a heart of gold when she lets someone get close enough. I am keeping my fingers crossed that Michaels will write a sequel to This Can't be Love b/c I would love to know how Molly & Dom's life emerges.

Likeable characters enrich a hilarious romance!,
By Tanya V. "Bookwyrm" (Pittsburgh, PA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: This Can't Be Love (Paperback)
Kasey Michaels' books are a hit-and-miss proposition for me. Some, I absolutely LOVE. Others, I find the characters self-centered and annoying. Luckily, "This Can't Be Love" is of the former variety. All the characters in this book are extremely likeable (with the exception of those that aren't supposed to be!). Both the major and minor characters are reasonably well-developed. And this book is hilarious! I laughed out loud while reading it. Michaels also does a good job of developing the romance between Molly and Dom -- Molly especially really has to work through some issues. Those issues are nothing new in romances -- something Michaels actuallly pokes fun at by calling Molly a "textbook case." Still, Molly's so much fun, and so loving, that you're rooting for her the entire time. A great read I couldn't put down!

A funny romantic read!,

I read this book on my recent vacation and I must say I was impressed! This is the first time I've read Kasey Michaels, and I loved it. The charactor of Molly is well developed, and we see why she acts the way she does. After I read this, I read her book "This Must Be Love" which brings in Molly's cousin Janie. You should ideally read that first before this one. These books take place at the same time with the books interweaving their respective storylines, which is neat. I would recommend this book to anyone - but read the other one first!

Lighthearted romantic comedy,

This review is from: This Can't Be Love (Paperback)
Dom Longstreet is a handsome, rich Broadway producer who is currently sponsoring a musical spectacular. In a moment of generosity he now greatly regrets, he agreed to babysit his niece and nephew for 3 weeks while his brother and sister-in-law go on a vacation far far away. Unfortunately, the daycare center where the kids go 8-5 on weekdays is closed for 2 of those weeks and he is frantic. Molly Applegate works at the center, which is owned by her cousin, and he talks her into being a nanny for the kids for him. Molly is a free-spirited woman who has had tons of jobs, but this may prove to be the most exciting job of her life.Kasey Michaels writes funny books, and this one is very lighthearted. I had real trouble believing that a man as rich and handsome and self-centered as the hero would agree, under any conditions, to babysit kids. But if you can get past that, the story is fun.

Unexpected Love,

This review is from: This Can't Be Love (Paperback)
Margaret "Molly" Applegate is a spoiled rich girl who never really stays in one place for too long. She is close to her cousin Janie and asked her to go to a political retreat for her, and in exchange Molly agreed to look after Janie's child care center for a couple days. Molly did not think there was going to be a problem then Dominic Longstreet appeared.
Dominic Longstreet is a Broadway producer who got roped into taking care of his 11 year old niece Lizzie and 8 year old nephew Little Tony while his brother and sister in law go on a cruise. He thought he would be able to deposit the children at the day care center for the two weeks that he was supposed to have them, but the day care center was scheduled to close down for those two weeks leaving him upset. Molly agreed to go to his compound to watch Lizzie and Little Tony (aka Al, Butch, and A.J)until Dominic's brother and sister in law get back. At first Dominic is too busy with rehearsals, dealing with a child actress and her stage mother from hell, and a leading lady who is having problems with the music to spend time with his niece and nephew. After a minor health scare though he starts to spend time with them and Molly. Soon the sparks are flying between the two as they explore a relationship which they think is temporary. but not the best thing I've ever read by Ms Michaels, I felt it fell a bit flat. A cute read, but not much of a reread (which is crazy for me, since I reread almost everything).

This Can't Be Important,
By IndigoRaiyne (Aiken, SC) - See all my reviews
This review is from: This Can't Be Love (Paperback)
This is the second book I've read by Kasey Micheals; the first one I actually finished and I will admit that I skimmed the last two thirds. While the book is well written and I liked Molly Applegate, Dominic Longstreet, Lizzie and A.J., there was just too much going on.
Specifically, there was too much talking. There were pages and pages of talking about things that were unimportant to the plot. Like the shopping trip. The reader is told about the shopping trip while it is occurring and ten pages later, Molly is recapping everything. The characters not only talk to each other a lot, but they talk to themselves as well. At times it feels like you're reading a script. Also, and this was my complaint with the last book, there will be two people participating in a conversation and every other line of dialogue will contain their first name. That just doesn't happen. It's unrealistic and distracting. I also didn't like how the name of the little boy kept changing. He started out as Little Tony, then Al, then Big Al, the Butch and finally A.J. It didn't add anything to the story and got to be a pain when reading. I did like Molly. I thought she was fun and smart and never came across as a spoiled little rich girl. I was rooting for her and Dom to have a happy ending, and I'm glad they got one. I especially liked Lizzie and A.J. and thought the author did an excellent job of portraying the children. They were very believable characters and wish more had been done with them. Perhaps more of a story given to them and less of one given to Derek and Cynara. Overall, I liked the story, but it could have been better edited with less extra stuff and more focus on the relationship between Molly and Dom. I will probably not be reading another Kasey Michaels novel because I am not a fan of her writing style.
