A must have Christmas recording.,
By A Customer
This review is from: This Christmas I Spend With You (Audio CD)
I have heard many of Goulet's Christmas recordings but never one as good as this one. When Christmas time rolls along my family can always count on the Carpenters Portrait, Robert Goulet's This Christmas and Andy Williams Most Wonderful along with Streisand's Christmas Album. These are the four most powerful Christmas albums I have heard in my 38 short years of life on this planet we call Earth. I am a rock and roller true and true but rock and roll can never capture the warmth, love and peace that these albums do. Do yourself a favor and let the power of Mr. Goulet's voice enlighten your Christmas now and for generations to come.

Every Note,
This review is from: This Christmas I Spend With You (Audio Cassette)
My mother played this Christmas album daily during December while we were growing up. It remains my favorite and I never tire of it. If you are looking for classic but fresh Christmas music this is for you. Your just can't beat Goulet's baritone. There are several songs on this album that have not been recorded 1000 times. I hope you can find a copy to enjoy!!

One of the Quintessential Voices of Christmas, Hidden For Far Too Long!,

This CD, a rerelease of Robert Goulet's 1963 album for Columbia Records "This Christmas I Spend With You", was Goulet's first venture into the medium of Christmas music--a genre in which he proved himself to be most apt. Indeed, Goulet, among the likes of Bing Crosby, Perry Como, Nat King Cole, Andy Williams and Johnny Mathis, is one of the all-time quintessential, distinctive "voices of Christmas". His rich baritone effortlessly evokes the traditional sounds and spirit of the season, as he hearkens back to the Christmases of yesteryear. One of the highlights of the album is the title track, which, although an original song to this album, seems just as traditional, appropriate of the season and fitting of Goulet's relaxed style as any other of the many wonderful songs on the album. Other highlights include "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas", "Silver Bells" (in which he sings the seldom-heard introduction) and "Winter Wonderland", to name but a few of my personal favourites. The album on the whole is a perfect complement to the Christmas Season, and it will be one I turn to as a soundtrack to all my festivities for years to come. It is a travesty that this CD is so hard to come by; it has been out of print for over 15 years now, and when it comes up for sale on Amazon or eBay, it is usually priced well over $100, even used. I myself paid around $120 for a copy several years ago on eBay, and while that was expensive, I have to say I have never regretted the decision, as it is one of my favourite albums during the Christmas Season. Goulet's second Christmas album, 1968's "Wonderful World of Christmas", is similarly difficult to find, but is also worth the investment if one comes across it. However, while his later album is also wonderful and contains many excellent tracks including "Home for the Holidays", "The Christmas Waltz" and "Do You Hear What I Hear?", several of the tracks are rather dated and feel unmistakably "sixties", and therefore, I would recommend trying to get this album first.

Robert Goulet embodies the wonderfully warm approach to a song. It is a nostalgic trip into the Christmas music most baby boomers remember of the sixties. Beautifully arranged and performed.

I used to listen to this when I was young. Hearing it again during the holidays brings back all the great memories for me.
