I bought this book after seeing the author interviewed in the documentary Objectified, and I really enjoyed all of the essays. They are very short and I liked his approach of not sharing a strong editorial opinion and letting the reader draw their own conclusions. Great read for anyone who has an interest in the marketing and consumption of consumer products.

Classic Rob Walker. The perfect book to have for quick reading here/there. If everyone thought the way Walker does, we'd have many more successful businesses.

I've enjoyed Rob Walker's work in the New York Times and in various online publications, podcasts and videos. He is sharp, insightful and fun to read, and conveys things clearly and without any of the insider language and fussiness that can accompany essays on this type of subject. I always learn something from Walker's work and this is no exception. It's a bargain!
