5.0 out of 5 stars Fresh Lyrics with tight beats makes a great cd
DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince went all out on this album. The lyrics are so smooth and the music has head bopping beats. Jazzy does a fantasic job on the scratching. "Then She Bit Me" is the most outragerous rap I've heard to date, funky lyrics with a tight beat. Other good ones include, "The Reverend," "Jazzy's Grove," and...

I just loved this cd!! I use to play this tape at age 15 until the tape popped!! Then bought another one, now I want to buy it again--on cd-- for my favorite track "Jazzy's Groove"! I miss the way HipHop use to be so fun to listen to (When it was simply about your skills on the microphone not how much everything cost?!?) I personally think HipHop is in a state of crisis and thank God theres Amazon to shop for the days when HipHop was an art form.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun, Upbeat & Spirited, November 25, 2006
By
hazyphonics (Orange County, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: And in This Corner (Audio CD)
DJ Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince's third album, And In This Corner... was a departure from the gangsta, political, and hardcore music hitting rap audiences in 1989. Fresh Prince, known for his witty humor and upbeat lyrics, and his partner Jazzy Jeff- possibly the greatest DJ of all time- created an album that is bouncy, good-spirited and fun. Prince's zany tales carry the record, while Jeff lays down perfect backdroppings to accompany his partner's flamboyant quips.

Standouts include "Jazzy's Groove", "Jeff Waz On The Beatbox", "Numero Uno" and "The Girlie Had A Mustache".

Buy this record if you're interested in checking out pure, undadulterated fun hip-hop. Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince stuck true to their craft (and still do), and created an album that epitomizes rap music's playful nature.

Back when YO! MTV Raps was on the cable you would see artists like these. DJ Jazzy Jeff And The Fresh Prince having fun in their raps. Not repping about where they are from or how much they got. Just straight up having fun. Thats when hip hop was fun and not played on ur pop stations 24/7. Dont get me wrong I personally dont like old school rap like LL Cool J and Biz Markie but this sound is still fresh today thanks to Dj Jazzy Jeff's beats. Now for the songs...

1. Then She Bit Me- I understand this song but I usually skip it 4/10

2. I Think I Can Beat Mike Tyson- Just straight up fun raps. 8/10

3. Jazzy's Groove- Everysong has Jazzy's beats why one song have this title I'll never know. 6/10

4. Everything That Glitters (Ain't Always Gold) - Again a fun laid back song. 10/10

5. You Got It (Donut) - This song is kinda sounds dated. 7/10

6. The Girlie Had a Mustache - Kinda childish now but fit right in in the 80s. 6/10

7. The Reverend - This song is alright. Usually skip it. 4/10

8. Who Stole My Car? - Classic song. 10/10

9. The Men of You Dreams - Song to get they both try to get the lady. Will smith's battle track...hahahaha. 10/10

10. Numero Uno - SHows its age. 8/10

11. Too Damn Hype - I really don't like this song. 2/10

12. Jeff Waz on the Beat Box - Bonus track only for cd. 8/10

Overall great cd but pick up the greatest hits instead cuz it has the good songs off here plus their other cds.
