Let's not glorify Joanna's music. It's pop, not too much more. If you like pop along the lines of Kelly Clarkson, you'll probably end up liking This Crazy Life. Joanna has a strong voice but I'm sure that'll end up getting clouded over by her looks, which is sad, because as good as she looks, her voice is stronger than a considerable amount of people getting a ton more attention than she is. However, now that you know that, I hope that you'll buy this before the label jacks up the price when she gets popular (which I'm sure will happen).
Song-wise, This Crazy Life is full of great vocals, catchy beats, and pretty good lyrics. I'm disappointed that Joanna didn't write all the songs but with a label like Geffen, I'm sure they're not taking any chances. Personally, I think Joanna's voice sounds better fronting a rock beat, like that of the chorus on the opening track, Let It Slide. But then again, she's not too shabby on a piano-laden track, such as the gorgeous 4th Of July. Her outright pop tunes I don't feel show her potential as much as the afforementioned types of songs. That's me though. In an endlessly growing sea of pop singers, Joanna properly shows she's better than a lot of those out there. Need proof? Listen to the title track, This Crazy Life, and try not to say this girl is talented. How many singers tackle topics like that in a song? Her delivery is eerily effective and the increasingly distorted background music (think pop-oriented industrial) is just perfect. Not to mention the variety included, it's not that unusual anymore but heck, it makes for an entertaining listen. My favorite songs are Ultraviolet, Broken, 4th Of July, This Crazy Life, and Your Obsession. Joanna's This Crazy Life isn't perfect, but for a pop CD, you gotta give her credit. There's not a lot left that hasn't been tried before in this genre, but somehow Joanna made a CD full of fresh sounding songs complete with a voice that won't easily be forgotten. This Crazy Life is highly recommended.

With This Crazy Life, Joanna shows that her singing career will likely not go the way her acting career did. Joanna's voice is incredibly versatile - sometimes she sounds like a higher-pitched and purer Mariah Carey, sometimes a bit like Kelly Clarkson, and even a bit like singer Abra Moore on the spine-tingling ballad "This Crazy Life." The song "Let It Slide" has a smooth, non-glossy feel that maybe should be found more on the album. She also sounds very strong on the rocker "Drifter." The other songs are pleasant and Joanna displays very good songwriting ability. The songs she picked by other writers are also solidly written. Diane Warren is a hit and miss songwriter, but her "Your Obsession" is sexy. I think on Joanna's next album, her style will grow, and her songs will stand out more. It's good if songs don't tire you out with their catchiness, but you need to be able to really remember a CD for it to be great.

I have no idea who Joanna is or where she comes from but, I do know that this CD is stellar!
She has a great voice with a big range, very melodic songs with catchy hooks with great music. Her sound reminds me a bit of Kelly Clarkson with the pop/rock formula. Her voice and the music together command you and draw you in with every note and chorus. This CD is a must have for everyone! It's a great addition to anyone's collection! JAC ~~~~~ 07'

This Lady Should Be Famous!,

This album has been out for 3 years, and yet there are only a dozen or so reviews on Amazon? Joanna Pacitti should be all over the radio! She is just as good, if not better, than most of the female pop "artists" clogging up mainstream radio.
My favorite tracks: "Ultraviolet", "Screaming Infidelities" (a cover of a Dashboard Confessionals song) and "Broken". Most of the songs on this album rock and it's worth checking it out in it's entirety. Poor Joanna. I hope one day you get the attention you deserve.

Needs to find her niche; potential is strong though,

This, along with Katie Melua's "Piece by Piece", KT Tunstall's "Eye to the Telescope", & Corinne Baily Rae's self-titled debut were chances I took this year musically. The three records I mentioned were beyond what I expected, delivering the goods. Though to be fair, I had never heard or seen Joanna before, though I was intrigued by the album art. And $9.99 Best Buy price tag.
To be blunt, this album was little disappointing. While, KT, Corinne, & Katie delivered amazing debuts, it seems all I could manage from Joanna was the hint of the potential she clearly has. Her voice is beautiful & manages to come across rather convincingly on specific cuts (like "Let it Slide", one of the better cuts). Though, as I say...a voice isn't always the key to success. There needs to be a blend of lyricism, voice, & image. Joanna is lost in a Nick Lachey/P!nk/Kelly Clarkson sound. All guitars & lost love angst, & it doesn't go anywhere. Though there are some highlights: "Utraviolet" is melodious & poppy, while the previously mentioned "Let it Slide" is utterly moody, the John Mayer-rock/funk/pop-clone workout "Tip Toe" works quite nicely. Overall, not a bad album, but it could've been better. They say not to judge books by their cover, CD's should count as well. Joanna's got the voice & look, let's see if she can find a sound more individual & suited to her.

Mega-cutie who gives teen-pop a refreshing if not groundbreaking contribution,

A pop-rocker in the mold of Kelly Clarkson, Joanna (born Joanna Pacitti on 10-6-84) is a capable singer who gives her best on every song. There is no formula here that hasn't been perfected before, but at least her music isn't the overbearing schmaltz that seems to be the trademark of many of today's singers.

So I randomly came across this album a few years ago, long before any of the American Idol hoopla, and decided to give Joanna a try. And I came away feeling nothing but impressed. Her voice could stop a freight train. Surely one of the most impressive female vocalists I've ever heard. And the album was full of great songs, with very catchy tunes and sometimes powerful lyrics. There aren't really any songs on this album that I'm even ambivalent about, they're all pretty good. But even with how much I enjoyed Joanna's performance, I couldn't help but feel a bit cheated. Because as stellar as all the songs are on here, it does feel a bit too much like an overly produced pop album meant to appeal for market penetration (which is ironic given how it's sold), rather than a work of art. This was just my impression, and left me feeling only a bit like I'd been swindled from what could have been. In the end, it wasn't enough to stop me from thoroughly enjoying This Crazy Life, and I truly hope she gets a chance to really spread her wings one day.

I love this album. I think Joanna has a great voice and her lyrics can be very moving at times without sounding fake. It sounds genuine coming from her.

Just Kind of There..,
This review is from: This Crazy Life (Audio CD)
Joanna's latest album "This Crazy Life," is now available. The Geffen recording artist has a mellow voice and as a whole her album falls along the lines of an early Kelly Clarkson or a Hilary Duff. This fall she will be touring with Nick Lachey.
This Crazy Life," is a safe mix of pop/semi-rock tracks. "Let It Slide," is a mid-tempo track. "Ultraviolet" is a mid-tempo song that opens with a children's choir singing. "Broken" is a song which relies on strong vocals. The title track is a song with a haunting track about abuse. There is nothing really remarkable or unremarkable about Joanna's album. It's easily forgettable. It's just kind of there. I wish I could say there was that one song that really stood out. She has a beautiful voice. Hopefully on her next album she will hook up with some different songwriters and producers. She has amazing potential.
