Book Description

March 1, 1999
This Date in New York Yankee Hating is a well-researched, often humorous look at the New York Yankees. Subtitled Going Negative on Baseball's Most Despised Team, this book is written in a unique format. For each day of the year there is a description of a Yankee-damaging event that happened on that date. There is also a note on a Yankee killer who was born or died on that date. These are supplemented by 366 lists and twenty-one original cartoons Yankee haters will love.

Are you sick and tired of the Yankee fans in your life who rub each and every World Championship in your face? Then you need this book! Yankee screw-ups, Yankee humiliation, Yankee defeats, Yankee arrests...all the good stuff is here! The next time some Yankee fan goes on about how great their team is, just whip out this book, open it to today's date, read, and enjoy!

1.0 out of 5 stars Ho hum, October 7, 2011
This review is from: This Date in New York Yankee Hating (Paperback)
Just another Yankee Hater book. Nothing new, just gossip about the Yankee team by people who dislike the Yankees for their 27 World Series Pennants. I suppose you can write a similar book about the Red Sox or other MLB Teams.

Fact: Does anyone know that a few of the Red Sox players, during the 2011 season, were eating and drinking alcohol DURING a game? Fact: The Sox not putting out 100% during practice? Theo Epstein knew (as did Tony), that's two reasons why he "fired" Francona. Poor Tony, he pushes the Red Sox to a WS Pennant twice in eight seasons and he gets dumped.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lots of fun - but needs a revised edition!, October 25, 2010
This review is from: This Date in New York Yankee Hating (Paperback)
The concept is terrific for both fans and anti-fans of the New York Yankees. If you're a fan of the richest and winningest team in baseball history, you can (or should) be able to find amusement in the low lights, all the better to savor the high lights! And if you're decidedly not a Yankees fan, but are friends with someone who is and feel they need a humble reminder of the other side of the coin, a book like this is the perfect stocking (or mouth) stuffer!

Or rather, it WAS the perfect stuffer. Since this book came out in 1999 there's been so much to add:

- The Game 7, one-out-to-go loss to the Diamondbacks in the 2001 World Series
- The upset in the 2003 World Series by the upstart Marlins
- The ULTIMATE in choke jobs in the 2004 ALCS (going from one strike away from a series sweep to losing in 7 games)
- Megabucks contracts given to disappointing performers like Jaret Wright, Carl Pavano, Kei Igawa, Kevin Brown, Randy Johnson, Jason Giambi, each with multiple milestone injuries and disappointments
- Giambi's apology for, but with no admission to, the use of steroids
- Andy Pettite's apology for, and admission to, the use of Human Growth Hormone
- Alex Rodriguez' apology for, and admission to, the use of steroids

And probably much more!
