One of the greatest devotional books of all time. This book is great for any age teen through senior adult. Easy to understand while taking you deeper in your spiritual walk.

This Day with the Master seems to be good devotional material. I use this book probably two or three days a week. The book is well written and gives good insight to the Christian life. It avoids the pitfall of many well-intentioned devotional books by being written with grace while not being sappy.

I have used this devotional every day for nearly 3 years, both hardcover and Kindle versions. Dr. Kinlaw has a rare gift of lighting up the Word and bringing it home in practical terms. Each day's reading either points out real ways to live in a closer relationship with the Lord or inspires continued faithfulness. Many "classic Kinlaw" phrases and concepts can be found in these pages. I highly recommend it.

Dennis Kinlaw (with the editing help of his granddaughter, Christiane A. Alberson) has written one of the best devotional books since the classic "My Utmost for His Highest" by Oswald Chambers, and in some ways, I think Kinlaw's book is better.

As a graduate of Asbury Theological Seminary, I was familiar with Dennis Kinlaw (retired president of Asbury College - now University, a separate institution across the street from Asbury Seminary). He is a scholar and a deeply spiritual man, yet also very practical and down to earth. All of these qualities shine in this devotional book.

Each day's devotion (365 days, dated January 1 through December 31) usually offers a text to look up, then a verse or two that are printed at the top of the page, followed by Kinlaw's thoughts. I lead a small men's accountability group, and we have used a number of devotional and study books over ten years. This one is already generating deeper discussions and spiritual growth among us than any of the others have, and we've only been using it for a few weeks.

But I knew this would be the case, as I've had the book for 2-3 years, and have always found Kinlaw's insights to be profound and challenging to my moral and spiritual growth when I'm willing to apply them to my life. God has used them to speak to me and encourage me to stay the course, looking for the narrow gate when my flesh would rather take the easy, wide gate (Matthew 7.13-14).

There are lots of devotional resources out there today; this is one I will return to for the rest of my life. My wife loves the Oswald Chambers one, and it is good, but I sometimes find it too dated to hand to a 21st century pilgrim. This one helps modern men and women to wrestle with the faith questions that are on our minds today, while truly drawing us closer to "the Master" each and every day.

This book is an excellent choice for daily meditation and Bible reading. It neatly ties in the scriptures with today's life.

This Day with the Master is a fine devotional book. It contains a recommended scripture passage followed by a short devotion for each day of the year. Even though Dr. Kinlaw is quite a scholar, the daily devotions should be easily understood by most people. I personally use the book every morning for daily devotions.
