When we are grieving, religious clichs and sentimental books with flowery scripts may be weak medicine. The existence of an afterlife cannot be proved, we tell ourselves. About the Author
As a young man, Tim Ward was a member of a Catholic religious order and studied at Concordia University of Montreal. Deciding that the life of a 'monk' was not for him, he left the order after three years. He later studied at Arizona State University where he graduated in 1990 with a BA in English. Mr. Ward believes that, although no single church has a lock on the truth, the collective experience of mankind can teach us a great deal about God and ourselves. For the past ten years, he has worked professionally as a writer in Phoenix.
