Editorial Reviews

From the Back Cover

In this day of advancing evil, will the Church wake up and fight? There is an enemy at our gates. Though you may be aware of Satan's assault, are you praying with authority against him? If not, it is probably because Satan's first line of attack is often a spirit of heaviness, which renders Christians passive and, thus, defenseless against the unfolding battle. Indeed, if you aren't praying against the enemy, he is probably stealing something precious from you-and it may be the heart of a loved one, the future of your church or the destiny of our nation. Author Francis Frangipane tells us that the call of God is a call to war. As we stand at the cusp of a major spiritual awakening in our land, the Holy Spirit is ready to impart a fresh anointing to God's people-an anointing that will activate the "war mode" in your heart. Ours is not a time of peace or surrender. No, this day we fight! Francis Frangipane is the senior minister of River Life Ministries and the author of eleven books, including The Three Battlegrounds, The Stronghold of God and Holiness, Truth and the Presence of God. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Frangipane has a burden for America. And America is under attack. But the church is not advancing against the enemy. Introspective and self-involved, the church has a spirit of passivity about her.

Even in the aftermath of 9/11, the church has not responded with a sustained, courageous, persevering spiritual attack against the enemy. Some beleivers treat God more "like a bartender than the Lord of Hosts!" We tell him our problems, await his sympathetic response and we go on our way unchanged, no better or stronger for the encounter.

But that is not our calling: The Lord of Hosts is calling believers to wage warfare: to fight! And the weapons of our warfare are mighty through God. (Eph 6:12). "The church in America is throwing off indifference and apathy and rising, at long last, to her feet." (p 166)

Frangipane calls upon believers in America to answer the call to arms. To wage war against oppression, tyranny, demonic control, principalities and all the powers of the enemy. He calls the church to stand tall: "This day we fight!" And then the Lord will come. Even so, come quickly Lord Jesus.

The author is well known for his work and anointed teaching in spiritual warfare. If interested in this topic, "Three Battlegrounds" is also an excellent book.

This is an excellent book for every Christian who has something to pray about. In other words, this book is for everyone! In this day of war, terrorists, drugs, crime and immorality, one can easily become overwhelmed by the abundance of prayer needs. We have unsaved loved ones, family members who are living in blatant sin -- the circle of our world grows larger and larger as we think about our local church family, the town we live in, our country and the world at large. How much impact can one person have against the battles of this day and age? Francis Frangipane reminds us of the authority we have in Christ! The biblical truths presented in this book, This Day We Fight!, will both encourage and empower you to persevere in your fight against the realms of darkness.

Anyone who is familiar with Francis' writings knows that his vision is for God's church to be transformed into the image of Jesus Christ. In this book we are reminded of our ultimate goal: to become like Christ. That is the heart of this book. Yes, it's about fighting for what you love and not giving up. Yes, it's about breaking the bondage of a passive spirit. But it is also a reminder that Christ is in us. Christ, who walked in authority, who conquered death and won the victory over sin and sickness, His spirit abides in us! We, too, have been given authority over all the power of the enemy (Lk 10:19); now we must walk in it and take back what the enemy has stolen. Passivity keeps us in bondage to the flesh and limits us spiritually. This book encourages us to keep the fight of faith alive within us. As we stand on the promises of God with persevering, unyielding faith and know who we are in Christ, discouragement will be replaced by courage and passivity with power!

Are you tired of the daily battles in your life? Then read this book. Franacis Frangiapane does an excellent job of giving practical ways-strategic plans for not only staying in the battle but in overcoming and winning the battle. In the book he reminds us that the victory is already ours-we just have to keep claiming it and fix our eyes on the Lord.

I am almost done with this book and have thoroughly enjoyed it. I will be going over it again with a friend of mine who will help hold me accountable to some of the principles focused on here.

If you are dealing with discouragement and fear in your spiritual life because of the constant sin cycle, this book will be breath of fresh air to you.

Excellent stuff...a message sorely missing from the pulpit. We do not need to live as victims. We ARE MORE THAN CONQUERORS in Christ Jesus.

A word of advice: If you plan on reading Francis Frangipane's This Day We Fight, do so with your Bible open and by your side.

The book itself is divided into three sections. Section one is full of Frangipane's thoughts and theories concerning the nature and practice of spiritual warfare. No doubt these ideas were formulated over years of study and experience. But if there is solid Biblical evidence to support these theories, Frangipane makes little effort to reveal it. The scriptures used are-more often than not-used anecdotally, isolated from surrounding passages. For example, the foundational thought behind section one is the subtitle to the book: Breaking the Bondage of a Passive Spirit, because according to Frangipane, God "has not called us to passivity; He has called us to war!" As proof, Frangipane sites Revelation 3:5-16. Unfortunately, he ignores the fact that Christ's obvious rebuke of the church in Laodicea was due to their arrogant sense of self-sufficiency when in reality they were poor, blind and naked! Frangipane also ignores the fact that the Spirit's advice to those believers was to go to God as the source of their emptiness-not to go to war against some contrived spirit of poverty, blindness and nakedness. Even more odd is the complete departure into Frangipane's thoughts concerning terrorism and Islam that dominate the last half of chapter three and all of chapter four.

By contrast, section two, entitled Exposing the Enemy's Weapon is classic Frangipane and has many encouraging and inspirational insights for believers. It speaks directly to the issues of spiritual disappointment, discouragement and weariness in doing good while giving believers a solid, Biblically based response pattern that is full of wisdom, faith, trust and humility.
