Editorial Reviews

This Desert strikes a path that touches on elegant French pop, blissed out dub, house and post-punk. The 6-track EP sets
the stage for deeper explorations on a full-length this fall. The Brooklyn-based duo consisting of Jason Friedman and Eleanore Everdell creates emotionally charged and intensely driving music, which harks back to the most classic of dance songs from NYC's storied underground.
The band describes the EP as ''The more ethereal, gauzy side of our tastes; the Summertime-Gothic and dreamy tracks we made thinking they'd go well with open hydrants and looks that kill''. But The Hundred in the Hands self-description belies more than just a dance band. Everdell and Friedman bend
and blend styles, sounds and eras into something that doesn't feel confused,
fake or forced. It just feels fun.
This Desert EP will follow on the heels of the Dressed in Dresden 12'' single.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dance, Dance, Dream... May 18, 2010
By Spike
Format:MP3 Music
I'd read about this band on a couple blogs and decided to plunk down a little for this CD. I'm so glad i did, since i think i've found my new favorite band. They're the perfect blend of what i love about "shoegazer" post-rock bands like My Bloody Valentine, The Cocteau Twins and Spiritualized - strange 80's pop acts like ESG, Neneh Cherry and Tom Tom Club (check out the song "Tom Tom") - and better than most current "dance" bands like Crystal Castles, LCD Soundsystem and Simian Mobile Disco. Very much looking forward to what they put out next.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Hundred In The Hands - This Desert June 25, 2012
Format:Audio CD
The Hundreds in the Hands' short THIS DESERT EP encapsulates what's so catchy about their sound: Ladytron-esque vocals, 80s synth-pop, and a little indie rock spirit. You can hear it in "Building In L.O.V.E." They don't wear their influences lightly, from the New Order-y guitars chugging into the slightly sad "Ghosts" or more shoegazer-y guitars on "In To It." But they also have a sly sense of humor too: what sort of percussion do you expect on "Tom Tom"? "It's Only Everything" sees them moving back into the future, with a nice electro feel to it. Keep this in your hands.
