Kind of a rush job,
By Gregory Swiderski (ROLLING MEADOWS, ILLINOIS United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: This Diamond Ring/A Session with Gary Lewis & the Playboys (Audio CD)
I agree in part with Jeff from Iowa. The first album was not the highest quality and that could be the problem. A Session with Gary Lewis is a excellent sounding album.Gary seems to perform many of the covers of those songs in the live shows. Overall it is a combined set of enjoyable sing-along albums which is what music is there for. Count Me In might have been the best release that Gary Lewis did. This Diamond Ring a close second and She's Just My Style third. Gary's covers of Palisades Park, Runaway and Concrete and Clay are exceptional. This is a fun album and yes I wish Malibu Run (which I CD'd of the film Out of Sight) and the theme from Super Six were on CD also. Pop in the cd, kick off your shoes and enjoy this one.

Great CD for Gary's fans!,

Listening to this CD brings back the days of Gary's great, simple music. These are the first two albums he cut and the tracks still sound fresh and great after more than 30 years. Any fan of Gary's will enjoy these albums; the CD audio quality is great, and there are many tunes on the second album which he never performs in live shows, but are takes on the songs of the day then. (the 60's). Don't miss out on this album. It's Gary's best!

The Sound is Great,
By "lennondude" (USA) - See all my reviews

I wonder if I have the same CD as the person who called it a rush job. I compared it with both Legendary Masters and Everybody Loves A Clown and it was on par (at least) soundwise. The liner notes indicate all songs were remixed and they sound it. I compared This Diamond Ring to a 3 inch CD put out by Rhino years ago. The remix has slightly less bass but is less hissy and cleaner.
