Excellent story, excellent illustrations,
By Liberty Speidel (Kansas) - See all my reviews
This review is from: This Is No Fairy Tale (Hardcover)
This Is No Fairy Tale is the story of Jesus from birth to resurrection.
What's different about this story of Jesus is it contrasts common fairy tale happenings with what actually happened in Jesus' life. For instance, with Jesus' birth, it's shown how things might have happened had He been born a prince in a royal kingdom. This contrasts with the fact He was born in a stable and no one knew about His birth, other than His parents and a few shepherds. What I Like: The comparisons made between fairy tales and Jesus' life are completely valid for young readers. Taking this approach to tell the story of Jesus is unique. In our culture where fairy tales are the norm, I think this book will help children understand the story of Jesus better. What I Dislike: Nothing. Overall Rating: Very Good. This book wonderfully shows how the life of Jesus Christ is contrasted in the real world vs. the fake fairytale world. Children should know the difference and this book is a great tool to help them reason and differentiate between the make-believe and the real. The God of the supernatural came into our natural world and we are able to see Him interact within it in a very real and meaningful way. Dale Tolmasoff, Corbert Gauthier and Crossway Books have brilliantly shown this historical truth to the minds and hearts of children. I love this beautifully smart book! What a great concept!!

Teaching Children the Gospel,
By
This review is from: This Is No Fairy Tale (Hardcover)
This is a great tool to help teach children the Gospel from a very early age. My 20 month old enjoys the format, and he is hearing the truth about Christ. A great alternative to most kids books out there.
And by the way, this book won an Excellence in Media Award.

This is the only book that my 9 month old son will continue to pay attention throughout the entire reading. I love this book and its beautiful illustrations. I enjoy it as much for myself as for my son.

Dale Tolmasoff has written a very clear book for children. His book brings the truth of who Jesus is to children and adults alike. Dale sets the true Jesus alongside what many would have imagined Jesus to be like. Not only is there a good theme, but the artwork is superb and helps draw children in. My son loves to look at the pictures now, but I look forward to using this book to teach him more about the true Jesus.
