Book Description

4 and up
In this playful introduction to the world's most rapidly growing sport, very young children learn about figure skating. From boot, lace, and skate to figure eights and serpentines, preschoolers will experience the thrill of the ice as two skaters spend a fun-filled (and sometimes bumpy) day at the rink.

Margaret Blackstone's pithy, declarative sentences, and John O'Brien's bright, happy illustrations will score a winning "Six" with aspiring young figure skaters.

Editorial Reviews

Review

What with figure skating rivaling football and basketball as a nationally televised spectator sport, this no-nonsense picture book can serve as a helpful guide to the various spins, jumps, flips and double lutzes that comprise the breathtaking performances of experienced skaters. Both author and illustrator clearly love and appreciate this demanding sport, and their enthusiasm is contagious. In well-chosen words and action-packed illustrations, their collaboration rates "a perfect six" score. (Selma G. Lanes, Parents' Choice, 1998) -- From Parents' Choice®
