From the beginning, 'This Great Pressure' grabs your attention and holds on tight. The guitars and vocals are plush and beautiful, embracing the listener like a long lost lover. Jogger is able to maintain an organic sound, a feat that can be difficult when you marry synthesizers and guitars, but comes off as effortless as a bird in flight. There are moments here, where Jogger re-invents the concept of rhythm, and paints a soundscape of percussive abstraction, that is quite absorbing and brings the listener into a distinctive aural aura.

This is an album I've been waiting for for quite a while, and it does not disappoint.

From the beginning it becomes clear that what Jonathan Larroquette and Amir Yaghmai have done is no less than capture the sound of the next decade, effortlessly fusing elements, judiciously applied, of almost every important pop movement of the past 40 years.

The result is an album that can be appreciated by every serious modern music fan, and might well serve as an introduction to vital forms for their less music-savvy friends; it is eminently listenable, despite its experimentation. I hesitate to use that word, since much of the record feels like they've moved past the experimentation phase and into full implementation. The sounds are wondrous, and created so naturally that most of the tracks have the feel of inevitability.

"This Great Pressure" is a truly original work that at the same time retains its awareness of its formidable roots. With courage and confidence, Jogger has grabbed the reins from the likes of Radiohead, Aphex Twin and Boards of Canada, and is sprinting into the new decade ahead of the pack.

Buy it.

Thus is my praise:
I downloaded a few songs off this album in an illegal manner. After listening to them a few times, I came here to buy the entire album.

Very interesting sounds. Give them a shot if you like to dip in and out of the normal reality like myself. I am thinking I will hear more of these guys soon.
