Considering all the talent involved in creating THIS HAPPY FEELING (excellent cast, plus screenwriter/director Blake Edwards), it's surprising that the film simply doesn't deliver and is now quite obscure.

This review is from: This Happy Feeling [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Considering all the talent involved in creating THIS HAPPY FEELING (excellent cast, plus screenwriter/director Blake Edwards), it's surprising that the film simply doesn't deliver and is now quite obscure.

SYNOPSIS--
Janet Blake (Reynolds) is hit on at a party by her inebriated dentist boss (Flynn). She quits her assistant job then asks another guest, Bill Tremaine (Saxon), to drop her at a subway station. He offers to take her all the way to Brooklyn. Fearing Bill wants intimacy, Janet hastily exits the car when they reach his home. Bill suggests Janet stop in to get out of her wet things and the chaste young lady runs and knocks on a neighbor's door.

Actor "Mitch" Mitchell (Jürgens) invites rain-drenched Janet inside and convinces her to remove the dress to dry it. Janet stays overnight and an escalating comedy of errors ensues. Mitch's ex, Nita Holloway (Smith) thinks he's fooling around with a girl half his age and so do Bill and his mom (Astor). Bill is eager to get to know Janet better. Meanwhile, Mitch offers her a secretarial job.

The star of "This Happy Feeling" was in a second stormy night comedy. Debbie Reynolds doesn't wear wet clothes in Billy Wilder's GOODBYE CHARLIE (1964)-- this time around she dazedly walks along a Malibu beach road... in absolutely nothing! It's the story of a murdered playboy who's reincarnated as a woman (Debbie). Co-stars Tony Curtis and Pat Boone. (VHS only)
