5.0 out of 5 stars THIS IS HOW IT WAS: HISTORY OF THE 485th BOMB GROUP, July 24, 2002

This review is from: This Is How It Was: History of the 485th Bomb Group (Hardcover)
THIS IS AN AMAZING HISTORY OF THE 485TH BOMB GROUP OF THE 15TH ARMY AIR FORCE STATIONED IN VENOSA ITALY DURING WWII. I HAVE LEARNED A GREAT DEAL ABOUT THIS GROUP AND THAT IS IMPORTANT SINCE MY UNCLE WAS LOST WITH PLANE AND ENTIRE CREW ON 1/20/45.

I HAVE ALSO BECOME FRIENDS WITH PEOPLE OF THE 485TH GROUP. THEY HAVE WORKED SO HARD RELATING THE DETAILS OF THAT TIME IN HISTORY IN A CONSISE CLEAR METHOD. THERE WERE SEVERAL INDIVIDUALS RESPONSIBLE HELPING SAMMY SCHNEIDER WITH THE GATHERING OF INFORMATION, ARTWORK AND ADDITIONAL DETAILS FOR THE BOOK,PLUS FINDING OTHER GROUP MEMBERS OR THE STORIES OF WHAT HAPPENED TO THEM. THERE IS STILL MORE TO BE FOUND!

A SPECIAL THANKS SHOULD GO TO MR. LYNN COTTERMAN WHO WAS A NAVIGATOR ON ONE OF THE CREWS THAT STAYED THE DURATION OF TIME IN VENOSA. HE WOULD TRAVEL 6 HOURS ONE WAY TO HELP SAMMY WITH THIS BOOK, AND IS AN EXPERT HISTORIAN HIMSELF.

THIS BOOK WAS EDITED BY SAMUEL SCHNEIDER! HE PULLED TOGETHER THE 30 YEARS OF MEMORABILIA BY CARL GIGOWSKI THE 485TH'S #1 HISTORIAN WHO SADLY PASSED AWAY IN 1993. SAMMY WROTE HIS OWN HISTORY FOR THIS BOOK, PUTTING ALL INFORMATION TOGETHER FOR PUBLICATION.

THIS HISTORY WOULD NOT EXIST HAD IT NOT BEEN FOR SAMMYtg (TAIL GUNNER) AND HIS CONTINUED PERSISTENCE AND DEDICATION TO SEE THIS BOOK COME TO FRUITION.

THIS BOOK IS A MUST - FULL OF FACTS, MEMORIES AND STORIES FROM MEMBERS WHO HAD TAKEN THE TIME TO KEEP DIARIES OR NOTES THAT WERE GATHERED TO MAKE ONE OF THE BEST HISTORIES I HAVE EVER READ! THANKS TO ALL OF YOU!!!!
