Biography

A voice that monopolizes the air when it is at full strength but can also break your heart at whispering volume might be an ideal way to describe what it’s like when Katherine Jenkins sings. “The young woman from the little place with the huge voice” is how some describe her. And lest we forget that she’s drop dead gorgeous with a body to match. With recordings that ... Read more in Amazon's Katherine Jenkins Store

Katherine Jenkins is in magnificent voice for these beautiful and traditional interpretations of Christmas favorites. Her lovely rounded mezzo is clear and pure, and the orchestra is full and warm. Together, they envelop you in a holiday feeling suitable for cozy evenings by the fire with a cup of hot chocolate and a good book. Her O Come O Come Emmanuel is especially lovely, and I was delighted to see the John Rutter piece "I Wish You Christmas" included. All in all, a very enjoyable experience, recommended for lovers of neo-classical Christmas music.

No matter how many Christmas albums you have, buy one more. Better still order gifts for everyone who loves Christmas. Without a doubt, Katherine Jenkins has nailed it. It is intimate, traditional, contemporary and very personal with her touch of a childhood song. Her range is amazing and her interpretation reaches new heights with this recording. Her songs range from a velvet touch, to a clever "Santa Baby" to a spiritual celebration. This album is a must for all Katherine Jenkins fans and a magical introduction to her new USA fans. Keep Christmas year round with this beautiful album. Well done.

"This Is Christmas"-A more perfect name couldn't have been chosen for this wonderful album from Welsh mezzo-soprano superstar Katherine Jenkins. The combination of her glorious, inspiring voice and rich orchestrations combine to create an album that vividly illustrates, through music, all that is special about Christmas. With a perfect blend of contemporary and religious selections you are transported to the joy, the warmth, the majesty and the glory of Christmas. "Hark, The Herald Angels Sing" showcases the strength and range of Katherine's magnificient voice; her rendition of "Santa Baby" has a sassy, at times breathless, charm that brings a smile each time you listen; "Sleep Quietly My Jesus" resonates with a soft, pure innocence; and of course, the Katherine Jenkins/Placido Domingo duet of "Come What May" from Baz Lurhman's Moulin Rouge is outstanding!!! For me, however, there is just something about "I Wish You Christmas" that makes it THE standout song of the album, it's as though Katherine is sending her personal holiday greeting to each and every fan, her personality and love evident in every note. "This Is Christmas" is THE Christmas album to have this year, from an artist who obviously delights in sharing her God-given talent and joy of music with the world.

I'm a big fan of Katherine Jenkins. I was really looking forward to owning this CD. Her voice is as beautiful as ever, but the song selection on this CD is horrible. There are a few nice songs, but many of them are boring with unimaginative arrangements. I'd recommend spending your money elsewhere.

I love her voice, perfect mezzo-soprano to sings pop songs and classic opera alike songs.I really like KJ voice to sings pop song, She is perfect for it !
The song selection is simply great,The orchestration is delightful.

My favorites songs are:
In Ducli Jubilo.
Hark The Herald Angels Sing
Sleep Quietly My Jesus

The song that I dont like it, it was the duet with Placido Domingo.KatherineJenkins should have choosen other song more classical to sing with Placido . For me, in this COME WHAT MAY, their voices didn't blend it !

Another reason I rated 4 star, is for the Amazon album with 10 songs ! Target offer the same album with 2 bonus tracks. And the UK version has 14 songs!!!! So , I guess Im going to spend another 16 bucks, to order the album in Amazon UK.

This a "must have" Christmas album . KJ glamorous voice.

I love her voice, but this is the last time I buy one of her albums as soon as it is released. I lost count of how many different versions she released of her "Believe" album, and already there are three different versions of this album out. There is this version, the Deluxe Version (which includes The Wexford Carol and In the Bleak Midwinter), and Amazon has offered a version with two bonus tracks (O Holy Night with Nathan Pacheco and some song I've already forgotten). My advice is if you want to buy one of her albums, wait at least six months after the first release so you can decide which version you would most like to own. This is a really crappy way to treat your fans, and is the reason I dropped my rating of this album from three stars to two.

For music, beauty is always in the ear of the beholder, and there is no other genre of music where I am as particular as I am about Christmas music. I want the music to be beautiful, inspiring, and to reflect my Christmas values and memories. Clearly an impossible task.

The most played song on my iPod is "I Believe" with Andrea Boccelli and Katherine Jenkins which was first released on his Christmas album. I think "O Holy Night" with Nathan Pacheco and Katherine Jenkins is currently the 14th most played song on my iPod. I wanted this album to be filled with selections as beautiful and inspiring as those two, so I was bound to be disappointed:) In my opinion, there is nothing on this album which approaches the beauty of either of those songs (unless you buy the Deluxe version which includes "O Holy Night"). I am strongly biased towards Sacred Christmas music, so the secular songs just bore me. With one exception (O Come, O Come, Emmanuel), even the sacred music was just OK.
