My sister Madeline introduced me to these ruthlessly innovative fellows twenty years ago. They were pioneers in digital recording technology and used the new flexibilities of the medium to great effect. They placed demands on the capabilities of digital recording and pushed the envelope to places we had thought unattainable.

And then we went even further. They established and exceeded a goal of telling wondrous stories with their music, which would be told, almost entirely, without lyrics. My favorite cuts on this collection include the first cut, "Universe of Two," which tells such a joyful tale with such an amazingly ambiguous cast of sadness.

There was never anything else that came close during the dawn of the "new age." This album belongs in your collection for sheer listenability.

I bought this CD way back in 1992 and it's one of my fave smooth jazz group. I wonder where they are now? :( "new snow" with vocals by Michael Ruff is one great track also others like: "universe of two", "hopeland" and "all my children". You won't regret it!

You can be assured that any time a Flim and the BB's CD enters your digital stereo domain - you are in for a treat. THIS IS A RECORDING is no stranger to this idea. It is jazz and improvisation at its finest. Dick Oatts and Billy Barber continue to remain innovative and creative in their approach to Jazz improv. Bill Berg is as masterful a drummer as you could ever "wish upon a star" for and Flim (JImmy ) Johnson has proven over and over again to be one of THE bassists that the world of jazz must stand up for. Add this CD to your collection byut don't stop there, you must also add BIG NOTES, TUNNEL, NEON, NEW PANTS, TRICYCLE, and THE FURTHER ADVENTURES OF FLIM AND THE BB"S to your collection as well. Lift them all onto your MP3 player and enjoy hours of pure Jazz GENIUS.

This is a Recording by Flim and the BB's is a great jazz/fusion album that most people will enjoy. If you're new to the jazz scene and you don't like those endless improvisations then this is a CD for you. I own all Flim and the BB's albums and this one is just about my favorite. The style of this CD continues in the same way they left off with their previous CD New Pants. I would definitely recommend this CD to any Jazz enthusiast and especially to people new to Jazz.
