From Jazziz

This version of East St. Louis Toodle-O was part of a March 22, 1927 date for Columbia. Ellington shares composing credits with trumpeter Bubber Miley, who played a vital role in the early development of the Ellington sound. A m aster of mutes, cup, and plunger, and the growling trumpet technique, Miley epitomized the "jungle" sound Ellington's outfit quickly became known for. Also notably unique is the almost weeping figure scored for reeds and tuba.
