5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent cd
This New Zealand import is better than a lot of music out today, and that's too bad considering that the band is on an "extended break." I can listen to this cd over and over again and not get tired of it. Their first cd, Silencer is also a must have in my opinion. I love the band and their sound, and it's well worth the money.

3.0 out of 5 stars not a bad follow up...
a good disc overall, the boys from NZ have followed up their debut album "Silencer" with a strong collection of tracks. This albulm has a more "produced" feel than their first album Silencer. The lead single "Hard to find her" and the Beach Boys cover "Don't worry baby" prove the boys still have what it takes. I saw Zed live at New Years 2001 and i have to say their...

I saw Zed live at New Years 2001 and i have to say their performance was one of the most energised and proffessional I've seen. on this albulm Zed prove they can do it as well in the studio as they do on stage. a must for any Kiwi Music Fan

4.0 out of 5 stars Strange mix of tracks on the import version..., December 21, 2004
This review is from: This Little Empire (Audio CD)
This tracklist on the import version of 'This Little Empire' seems to be a compilation from the band's first and second albums. I don't own the import version...

If you can get hold of the version of TLE as it was released in NZ you will get a different view (and hear tracks that are for some crazy reason NOT included on the import). This review refers to the NZ version.

TLE is definately a progression in the right direction for the boys from Christchurch, NZ. With songs like 'Postcard' and 'Did nobody tell you' showcasing Nathan King's accomplished songwriting skills; he has a great 'ear' for melody and a well-written lyric. I'm not quite sure why they covered the Beach Bums song; it's not as if their own stuff needs bolstering by a cover such as this. The heavier songs like 'Firefly' and 'Bleeding on the radio' show (as they did with 'Renegade fighter' on Silencer) how the harder-edged guitar work from Andy Lynch can mesh in very well with Nathan's softer side. These guys have a great future ahead of them. I saw them several times whilst I lived in NZ and they definately have what it takes. If you're reading this guys: get your arses over to Europe, and smartish.
