The genius of Lee Ritenour, on "This Is Love," will excite your jazz/R&B heart like no other CD you will ever own. This was the Haley's Comet of 1998. We might not see the likes of it ever again. The final cut on this CD, Pavane -- an adaptation from the great classic of the same name by composer Revel -- ALONE is worth the price of this CD. But thankfully, I'm certain you'll find at least 90 percent of these cuts to be nothing short of exceptional. The first cut, This Is Love, is one of the best soft-reggae/funk versions you will ever hear. Mr. Papa is as smooth as silk. Can You Feel It is an all-time explosive ditty. If you're driving, be careful. You might get a speeding ticket. The track "Baltimore", with lyrics, is fabulous. Dreamwalk should be play in every five-star hotel lobby at least once ... per hour. Alfie's Theme is a catchy bee-bop tune with Mr. Ritenour's playfulness on the six-string entertwined with magical keyboard and brass section accompaniment. Ooh Yeah has overtones of the Taxi (TV show) theme, with cleverly placed "ooh yeah" sung lyrics sprinkled in. But, again, Pavane is the real jewel on this CD. ...This CD is easily one of the most underpriced that I have ever purchased. This will be a no-contest, surefire crown to your collection.

I've been a big fan of Capt. Fingers for years. This album's production qualities are a bit too sterile and syrupy for it's own good. It's fine that Lee wants to get the CD heavy airplay on the smooth jazz stations, but he would be just as well cutting back on the slick electronic drums, samples, and mounds of processing on everything. The two Sonny Rollins tunes are excellent, with more of a B-3/Guitar/Sax melody interplay. It just doesn't come close, however, to matching up with his groundbreaking works like "Festival" or "Harlequin".

Dolby is unveiling its new surround and HD system, called TrueHD. Samples from this CD will be used to highlight the new Dolby system. This ought to give you an idea of well this CD is recorded...

Lee Ritenour is in fact one of the pioneers of contemporary jazz. I have heard him recently (I'm only 21 years old, but I have 27 discs of Rit now) and I can say that Rit is the best guitar player in the world. An excellent arranger and producer. This is Love disc is a really exiting work. To begin with this disc is released by his proper label (I.E. Music), of course the first disc of this label was A Twist of Jobim. This is love track is a pre-tribute to Bob Marley....the guitar literally "sings" that song. This CD is a "collection" of rythms and colors, this album shows Rit's past, present and future.

Past.
Aflie's Theme, Street Runner. Like the previous work in Stolen Moments. And You Know What...I Love You, a song dedicated to Wes (Rit's son), also a song dedicated for his son is "A summer child" from Fourplay's world aclaimed album Between the Sheets.

Present.
Mr. Papa, Can you feel it?, Dream Away, Baltimore, Ooh- Yeah, Dreamwalk. Super songs. For me the best one is Dream Away, featuring his buddy Phil Perry. Altough this is more pop oriented tunes, might refer to Rit and Rit 2.

Future.
This is love. The begining of A twist of Marley project
Pavane. This incredible song led to the creation of "Two worlds".

This album is a must have for Rit's fans, shows the evolution of Lee Ritenour, this is for past, present and future joy.

I had the pleasure of watching Mr. Ritenour during the 1998 Syracuse Jazz Fest. He highlighted many of the tunes from this CD during the concert including my favorite track, Sonny Rollins' "Street Runner". Though not his best work, he still packs a punch. Recommended!!

I have listened Lee since 1987 and now through this album Lee tried to bring various types of music. You should listen every title of this album. Lee is still the best jazz guitar player that i've ever known. Buy this CD....!

At first I thought it was a rip-off, but when I heard it again I realized it's a tribute to the great Marley. The third time was the charm! I bought it!!! J

if you love good music,the lee ritenour cd this is love is great! anyone who love good music and have not listen to lee ritenour are missing a music treat!

Although I don't like drum programming on some titles in this album. Generally I like this CD, expecially Sonny Rollins' songs which are superb and excellent. Good Play Lee........

I love listening to this cd in the beginning but it seems like have way through the cd he changes it up and the tone set is different. Almost like it is clashing with the first part of the cd. At first I was thinking that maybe it is two different cd's, but I was wrong. That's ok because I will still listen regardless.
