Editorial Reviews

Review

"Boggs knows the Old West, and it horses and guns, and his characters are invested with considerable originality....I think Johnny D. Boggs is well on his way to being a major western writer."(George Glenn, The Shootist -- (George Glenn, The Shootist)

"Hannah and the Horseman is easy to get into and hard to put down" -- Frank Wooten, The Post and Courier

"Humor, action, and a wonderful character in Gwen McCarthy make this a delightful read." -- Roundup Magazine, December 1997

"If you're into the true wild west, you will enjoy this rugged tale set in west Texas." -- Rendezvous, September 1997

"Johnny D. Boggs is a student of the West, so you can bet he gets his details right, whether it's guns, horsehide, or the lay of the land....In pacing, Boggs is a master. Every page brings surprises, every chapter crackles with action. Whether it's This Man Colter or the Hannah and the Horseman series, Boggs throws a screenplay at us, knowing we'll make the movie in our heads." -- Bruce H. Thorstad, author of Deadwood Dick and the Code of the West and Sharpshooters

From the Inside Flap

It should be a simple job. All Raleigh Colter and his partner, Jeff Crutchfield, have to do is guide photographer Gwen McCarthy and her father to the Guadalupe Mountains. But Colter is experienced enough to know that nothing comes easy in West Texas. The rugged country is far from hospitable, often teeming with thieves, killers, and renegade Apaches. Plus, Gwen wants to photograph a mountain lion in the wild - which has never been done - and her father is a drunk. Pitted against Mother Nature and murderous outlaws, Colter and Gwen are soon forced to rely on their skills - and each other - just to survive. If they fail, some other photographer might wind up taking a picture of their bleached bones in the high desert.
