I bought this book for some good friends of mine who are adopting, however was so disappointed that I returned it instead of giving it as a gift. I had looked for a baby book that would include adoption information as well as all of the normal baby book pages but this is NOT what I had in mind. I got this book even though the cover is not exactly the cutest for a baby book but the inside pages are just as bad! They have used the handprints throughout and have only included a couple of the normal baby book pages. More than half of the book is pages for vaccinations, doctors appointments, allergies, and birthparents history. I was looking for a baby book (with all of the little cute pages for baby's first tooth, baby's first step, etc. with an adoption twist (i.e., when did you get "the call," how long did you have to wait to get me, etc.). This has pages for the child up to ten years old and includes too many pages for birthparent information. It would be a good book for a health history and background history on the birthparents and child but NOT as a baby book to document all of the things that happened throughout the adoption process and baby growing up (all of the exciting moments and most memorable moments.

Wow! I have searched and searched for a book like this. This baby book is specifically designed for parents who have adopted...an you can customize it to an infant, and older child, a domestic adoption, or an international adoption. I was thrilled. A must have for parents who are adopting! The only quality I would improve is to have a more eye catching front cover.

I found this book to contain space for everything I wanted to record about our son's adoption. I was able to add blank contrasting papers to glue photos to, and remove pages that didn't apply to us. I also liked the personalization about my son's birth country. There was plenty of space of baby firsts, and it will be a continuing record of his life up through college.

My wife and I recently adopted a child from another country. We choose the This Is Me Book because it contained information about our childs native country including maps and a picture of the flag. When we received the book we were pleasently surprised. We like the fact that you can add or remove pages to suit your needs. I would recommend this baby book to all adopted parents especially those who are adopting children from out of the United States.

I looked at many books before deciding on this one. I chose "This is Me" because I adopted a 5 year old and don't know all the "first year firsts".
My biggest complaint is the book I received was for a Russian adoption. I've looked at my order slip and the item online and can't find where it specifies for me to choose the country. That takes out 7 pages (Tell me about my native country, visits in the baby house, maternity hospital, orphanage visit, favorite things about the country, citizenship ceremony& why did you adopt from Russia).
The pages are very bland. It's the same page throughout the book. White paper with lines to write on and a set of handprints for a border on the side. For the price it would be nice to have a little variety.
On a positive note, I LOVE that the pages are removable. It has alot of pages I can use. There are pages for birth parent information, 2 family trees, celebrating birthdays 1-18, school years from preschool to 12th grade, health information, why did you adopt me, placement & finalization days, favorite things, important people, activities, religion, first things with new family, etc.
Overall, I am satisfied with this book and the things I like outweigh the things I don't.

I have never been so disappointed in a book before. Not only is it not baby-cute like birth-baby books, it takes too many short-cuts on the information it does ask for. Also, it is not appropriate for many international adoptions in which no or little birth family information is known. There was nothing on the Amazon description page to let me know that this was not an international version -- I was expecting country-specific pages. I am returning it for a refund immediately.

Finally a baby book that isn't so cutsie. This book has everything I wanted to document when adopting. A lot of people in my adoption group have also purchased this book and they all love it!

I have been wanting to find a good "lifebook" for my recently adopted sons, who are 2 and 3. We adopted from the foster care system and this book is perfect! The pages have room to record info about their previous foster family as well as a page for the details about the adoption ceremony and a page of "firsts" too. I also liek the expandable format and pocket pages at the end for little mementos etc...

I love this book because: The pages are removable so I can take out the ones that are not applicable. I am a single Mom and the book does not talk about Mom and Dad so it will work for any kind of family. I am not a big fan of the front cover, however i am handy and plan on making fabric covers for my boys books.

We have 2 boys we adopted from our state's foster system and a birth sibling little girl we're hopeing to adopt. While the pages are not exciting, this is a great book to record a fostered/adopted child's information. This book provides a place for answers children may want to learn about their adoption and why they came into foster care. I too like you can remove the pages that aren't relevent. There is a place for a birth family tree, and adopted family tree and even a family tree for single adoptive parents. I do wish there were more blank pages provided and the book was a little less spendy.

I would not nessisarily recommend this book for international or domestic private adoptions. It is the best record keeper for life stories and as a "baby book" for an older child.
