Editorial Reviews

The biggest band on Rise, Attack Atack! has been a staple on Warped Tour appearing on it 3 years in a row, including headlining main stage. This Means War is the 3rd full length from the band. Its the bands heaviest & catchiest album to date, building on the unique mix of metal and pop that catapulted them to the forefront of the scene.

Listened to album a few times through thinking I'd start to "feel it", not so much.

It's been a few months now and I still listen to it just about everyday.

What was Attack Attack known for before? Crabcore (which I admit was hilarious), Heavy riffs and gutter yells, Blatant Auto Tuning and throwing in random dance type songs. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for genre blending, however, theirs just felt so out of place. I really didn't like this band before because it didn't offer anything that I haven't heard before that wasn't, well, better.

I hear their new album (yes this one) because youtube kept wanting me to listen to their new single The Wretched, I did, and I loved it. They got rid of the auto tuning, random as heck dance songs, and their new singer has more passion in his voice to the point his vocal box sounds like it was replaced by chocolate malt balls (unlike their last clean singer). Calebs pulling double duty on clean/unclean and man is he a beast! He doesn't sound the greatest to ever exist, but its the fact that he actually puts his heart and sole into it rather than sounding like a robot with auto tune makes me like it 100x better (can you tell I hate auto tune?).

Instruments are amazing, I never complained about their instruments in the past. Just didn't care for certain element choices in the music.

All In all, its a concept album, I really enjoy those. I'm just happy they got rid of the robot singer.

5/5

The greatest part of this album is that you can buy it for only $.99 because all you have to do is download one song and listen to it 10 times because thats what listening to this cd feels like, just one long song that drones on and on. With that being said if your 13 years old and just want to listen to relentless talentless screaming for half an hour, You need to get this, buy, steal or illegally download it just get it you will love it.

Not going to be a very long review but you'll get the idea.

I quite enjoyed the new offering from Attack Attack! I've only gotten to listen to the album one time through and while it's very cohesive from beginning to end, I did find that the tracks tend to blur but at the same time none of them felt out of place. Caleb, the lead singer/screams, had to change up his vocal still while I find it doesn't pack the punch that his vocals did from their second album, it is better for his vocal chords meaning he will be able to do it for longer with no negative side affects on his voice. I was quite impressed with Calebs cleans and I found them quite refreshing to the old singer Johnny but that's just me.

As far as the instruments goes, this ablum hits just as hard if not harder than their self titled album did. I throughly enjoyed while it seems that there were some cool little licks thrown in it, there is also a fair amount of chug chug style parts. The drumming is still good. And the few "syth"( I put in quotes because I'm not sure if that's what you would call it) parts that were in the album were well placed and done well. Although I wish there were maybe a few more.

Overall I throughly enjoyed the new Attack Attack! cd and can't wait to listen to it again.

4 1/2 out of 5 (rounded up to 5 since there is no half option)

Took half off because some of the songs sound quite similar but it's not really a big deal.

Happy listening and happy head-banging :)

Attack attack has transformed over the years to an entirely different band. I originally purchased this CD because I liked the christian lyrics of their original cds but hey.... still good music.

First off, I like this new style. They finally got rid of the dance music junk, and I like Caleb's vocal style better. (I personally liked Austin and was sad to see him go) The reason I rated this album only three stars is stunning lack of variety. Every song has the same basic pattern, and there really isn't very much variation from track-to-track. It's almost like they put real thought into a couple songs, and then just gave up halfway through writing the album. I really think they should've made an EP with The Wretched, The Motivation, The Eradication, and The Revolution. The other songs are very generic and unoriginal. In summary, I think this is a step in the right direction, it just needs more variety and originality. This band shows great promise, hopefull their next album will be amazing.

I never cared too much for Attack Attack, they're previous album was okay, I liked it because it was something a little unique & fun. This new CD I thought I'd give a shot and before purchasing I had never listened to any of the new songs. I really like buying albums and supporting bands since I know music downloading takes a huge toll on these guys. Listened to album a few times through thinking I'd start to "feel it", not so much. This album just sounds the same the whole way through, it's utterly boring, the lyrics are stale and stupid, and it's just not good at all. I don't feel like any heart and/or soul was put into making this record. I hate to say it, but this was definitely not only a waste of money, but a waste of time altogether. Sorry AA, not digging it.

I don't seem to find the time or the words to write as many reviews as I'd like to on Amazon, especially considering how much I value them. And I'd say that goes ten-fold for writing reviews for every album or book I own because I own so many. But, I felt the need to make time for this one. I'd never heard Attack Attack! before this album... I came across them randomly while searching for some new music interests on Amazon. Now that I have, I only want more!

I'm not much of a music aficionado, so forgive me if I don't have the vocab. to describe their "style" as vividly as I'd like. Suffice it to say, I love the mesh of the screaming/singing (as well as the tones) and the keyboard & drums. I even like all the track titles, they just seem like something I might choose myself. On top of that, I was quite surprised to learn that the lead singer and keyboardist is only 19, and joined the band at 15. That's quite a talent!

Anyway, I only wish I could have said more, but I've only been a fan for 1 whole day! Seriously, I just heard them for the first time last night, starting with the track "The Revolution." It appealed to me, so I continued on with the album only to find songs I liked even more! I listened to it over the course of a long drive, and a few more times during the course of a live poker session. And, of course, I'm listening to the album again right now.

My absolute favorites are "The Motivation" and "The Wretched," but this is an album I can listen to the whole way through, over and over again. There are hardly any musicians I can stand that much, particularly to listen to EVERY song on an album. Then again, it's only 10 tracks... Regardless, I'm 30, and I enjoy all types of music.
