hits right between the eyes in both music and message.,

Two years after the short teaser My Daddy Can Whip Your Daddy, Disciple releases an album that hits right between the eyes in both music and message. No punches are pulled in this razor sharp collection of tracks that strip away ambiguity to tell it like it like it is about this whole God thing. The phrase "metal with a message" never applied better.Musically, Disciple serves up straight, classic heavy-metal. Outside of a brief blues number at the very end of the last track, past southern influences are not as prominent, and previously heard elements of rap-core are evident in only a few areas. Taking the spotlight is guitar-laced, drum-pounding, not-punk-more-than-rock-old-school-here-to-stay metal all of us products of the seventies and eighties can reminisce about. This is mordern metal, with the 90's grunge forcing the spandex to be turned in for blue jeans and concerns over the ozone doing away with the hair sprayed wonders in favor of that natural long-hair look. Remaining are song after song of screaming yet clear vocals, catchy choruses, and, well... metal. The album leaves absolutely no question as to where these guys are going with this album. While some bands may get together and try to come up with the next great hook or define a new sound, I can just envision Disciple getting together and trying to figure out how they can tell the world about Christ, and the music just follows along somehow. And figure it out they did, from the opening 'I Just Know', defining the importance of Christ over the idiosyncrasies that churches often argue over, to the closing Furthermore, essentially paraphrased as asking "what the heck else do we have to do to get you to understand what we're saying here?". Removing any doubt, the album even includes an alter call over blues style guitar work at the end of the final track. I could go on and on about the quality of the guitar solos, the great bass riffs, or the catchy choruses, but something tells me these guys wouldn't care less. I don't know, maybe it has something to do with tracks like '1 2 Conductor' ("I don't give a rat's rear end what they say as long as my God's happy"). Not only do they not care if you like the music, but they're not afraid to support the album's title by saying it like it is, such as in 'Worship Conspiracy' ("pray to buddah every day, put us to shame in every way,...fasting fourty days, we can't lift our hands in praise, God deserves more than you're giving Him"). The band's complete sell-out to the message as motivation makes the album that much more attractive and escalates my respect for these guys off the charts. Unquestionably, this is metal-rock at its best and will fit perfectly into any head-bangers collection. Chad

Christian Metal at its Very Best!!!,
This review is from: This Might Sting a Little (Audio CD)
I agree with another reviewer that this is probably Disciple's very best CD. I have all of them and listen to them quite often. They are an incredible band. I can recommend their whole catalog - starting with "By God" then "Back Again", then the new one "Disciple", then "What Was I Thinking". their latets offering is supposed to be released Nov 7., 2006. - looking forward to it. "My Daddy Can Whip Your Daddy" would only be recommended for the die-hard fan. It only has 5 songs as I recall and a couple of those aren't that great.

If all Christian metal sounded like this CD, I would be a HUGE fan!! I meant to post this review years ago, but never got around to it. I found this CD quite by accident at an antique/flea market type place in rural MO of all places. I picked it up and from the first time I listened to it in my car, I was completely blown away. For a minor label release, the production quality is incredible. Very tight, well balanced guitar sound. These three guys can play and I was impressed with the more progressive stuff that was thrown in on this CD...lots of extra hooks, bridges, etc. Now, I have never been a huge fan of christian rock (although i have listened to it) but this one is a must have - very impressive lyric writing as well and nice touch in the liner notes where the story/inspiration for each song is described. Keep Rockin'!!

4.5 Stars! DISCIPLE at their BEST!,

This CD starts with the words "I just know Jesus is the way" and pours into a upbeat, heavy-rockin guitar rhythm that grinds and pounds your head into the wall the whole time. I can't help but turn the volume up and listen to this CD with a bottle of Tylenol next to my computer. I have to put paper-weights on the lighter items on my desk.Disciple rocks and I am a new fan, even though this CD is a few years old. I will be looking forward to their newer work also.

This CD is completly awesome. of course id prob be less likely to review it if i didnt like it... but as im listening to I JUST KNOW (track 01) right now i have to admit this CD rocks a lot. Its not just the heart punding yelling and screaming but the lyrics that do the same thing. The lyrics that DSICPLE brings in this CD always strike me and i always go back to this CD so i can remember that Jesus is the only way to heaven and preferences aside... that fact never changes... I JUST KNOW!

I got this for my husband for Christmas. He'd mentioned liking the song "Big Bad Wolf" but it ended up being harder rock than the version he heard on the radio. He still liked it though. Later our 2 year old asked to listen to it instead of Christmas music! Overall a good buy. Great lyrics!

I had heard good things about this album from Disciple long before I actually bought it. I actually do buy my cd's because I believe that illegal downloading is stealing. Anyway I had bought other Disciple recordings in the past that are more recent but this cd ROCKS HARD to the core!!!! Every song is heavy, rockin' and lyrically Bible-based. You can understand the lyrics unlike some Christian metal bands out there today. Amazon.com has a great selection of Christian rock and metal to choose from. Buy this CD if you want good metal with good messages about salvation through Jesus Christ!!!!!!---------Troy Adcox

This group is one of my favorites, because even though it is a heavy metal CD the lyrics are understandable. It has a great message being a Christian group. If you have ever seen them in concert this was probably one of their better selling CD's with songs like "I Just Know Jesus is the Way".

Short and sweet review, if you like heavy guitar and a strong Christian message, do not hesitate to purchase this or any of Disciple's CD's. They definately rock.

Pick me off the floor!!,

I got knocked to the floor in the first minute of this CD. These guys rock you to heaven and back again. Great production and songwriting. The lyrics are intelligent and are bound to get you thinking. (No. More like pondering and praying.) I bought their latest CD first, so I'm working my way backwards through their discography. Each has a different feel which is a tribute to their musicianship. I can tell I'm going to buy everything this band has put out!!!
