5.0 out of 5 stars Sensational music that touches your soul...........
If you are the kind of person who listens to music for your mind & soul, then this CD is for you. I first heard David Osborne during a visit to a California Spa. The peace & tranquility his music brings, is not easy to describe. Every piano note & chord strikes you, since it comes from his heart. This music will uplift your soul & will make you stop...

It amazes me how famous someone can get by not writing a lick of music, but simply embellishing others' writings. This is pretty much standard lounge music, the type Billy Joel played before he got big, the same kind David Lanz played before he started adding his own compositions into his sets. 5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent in every respect, August 24, 2007
This review is from: From This Moment (Audio Cassette)
Having heard David osborne playing in the Baccarat Lounge at Bellagio in Las Vegas one evening a few months ago. I was very impressed with his playing and had to go back each night while he was there. I purchased three of his CDs, on the spot, and he autographed them for me. this CD, happily, was one of those three.
At those performances, he played with merely a standup bassist supporting his lovely and stylish flourishes.

The cuts on this recording are quite varied. Backed up this time, by more intruments, Osborne has the excellent good taste and musicianship to know when to let another "voice" take the lead as in "Time to say Goodbye", in which the main melody is expressed by the oboe, supported by the rich texture of the piano beneath. Each cut on this CD holds up the scrutiny of a musical snob/critic like myself. Analysis of the embellishments and variations of themes reveals the true artistry and sureness of technique of Mr. Osborne. His touch is dynamic. He can express strong as well as soft feelings with an ease that seems to flow directly from inside himself.

He is, in my opinion, among the best pianists performing lounge music, which, in the hands of a true talent, becomes a superior art form. Many music lovers could learn much from listening to Mr. Osborne's presentation of this subtler musical style.

His interpretations are by no means gaudy or ostentatious, but expressively melodious; sometimes quite subtle and understated, but always musical. He obviously has had a great deal of classical piano training and experience.

If you already appreciate good lounge music, listen to Mr. Osborne and enjoy his style.

If anyone doesn't yet appreciate this form of music but would like to spend a little time learning about the charms of true "easy listening" jazz interpretation, I suggest spending time listening to this artist and this CD in particular.

This is pretty much standard lounge music, the type Billy Joel played before he got big, the same kind David Lanz played before he started adding his own compositions into his sets. Osborne's fills are showy, and he spends a lot of time playing things up a few octaves. If you like music you are likely to hear on the easy listening stations and department stores and expensive lounges, then this disc is for you. Personally, I could care less.
