Editorial Reviews

Sisterhood is powerful--not! Faced with a friend whose lover is not only "cheatin'" but "beatin'" on her, Chante Moore informs her that she must get home because "Chante's Got a Man." Unfortunately not an update of Positive K's self-deprecating early-'90s rap hit "I Got a Man," This Moment Is Mine's first single instead is all too typical of an ego fest of an album that also finds the singer praising (on "Blooming Flower") the "shining colors of a love that's ours," then kicking the guy to the curb because "I'm on a course set before we met." The efforts of star producers such as Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Jermaine Dupri, and Rodney Jerkins are all sadly wasted on this soft-soul project, whose depth is perhaps best indicated by this liner-note shout out to Jesus: "You are so awesome. Thank you for being God!" --Rickey Wright

I just recently became a chante moore fan so I can't really compare her old work, but as for her latest, I think it is madd ill. Perhaps if you are an old fan of hers than you WON't like this album, but if you just recently got into chante moore than you will appreciate this master piece. I noticed how everyone focused on "Chante's got a man" where she is simply saying that there are good BLACK MEN out there. On tracks like "This moment is mine" she is simply stating the fact that it is now her chance to shine. No more playing second hand to ANYONE. "My favorite song is "I see you in a different light" this is a duet with JOJO. in this song she really displays her vocals and what she wants out in a man. If people took the time out to read her credits and who she gave thanks to for the album then perhaps they will understand what this album is about. On tracks like "in my life" chante seems to displays her affection for her man. With a deep beat to fit right along with what she is singing makes this song top notch.
"Curtains fall down/lights come on/I'm alone in the dark/And I sang final notes from my heart"...
ChANTE sings beautifully on "in my life". Sure some of Moore's old fans may be upset with the album, but if you are a new-comer to her music then don't pass this album up.It is defiantly worth your money!

There's too much to be said about this wonderful singer. Her music is a LUXURY for her listeners. She's talented FAR beyond recognition. I admit, there are some songs on this CD that are simply NOT Chante Moore, but I do understand experimenting now and again with music and other artists, and that's what Chante did. Listening to ALL of her music from "Precious" to "A Love's Supreme" and now to "This Moment is Mine", you truly hear the beauty of her work, and the phases that she's gone through in her life thus far. She EMBRACES her listeners with her desired melodies while her SWEET voice makes love to her listeners' auditory senses. Her voice is MOORE (no pun intended) than therapeutic, it is heavenly. Of course anyone is welcomed to listen to whatever they choose, but the only listeners WORTHY of hearing Chante are those that know how to appreciate it and those that are TRULY lovers at heart. May God continue to bless her, her voice and her music. Buy this CD and the other two if you haven't already. Peace.

This is a really well-produced album that features classic Chante ballads & mid-tempo groove and a few uptempo tracks that didn't cross over the line into pandering to the hip hop crowd. I think this album is a perfect progression from her classic debut & sophmore albums and listening to it again, I realized that I liked more than I disliked:

IF I GAVE YOU LOVE - Rodney Jerkins produced track that sounds too much like Jennifer Lopez's IF YOU HAD MY LOVE (he should be ashamed that he did this to Chante)

CHANTE'S GOT A MAN - I'm still "meh" about this song but Chante sounds great

I SEE YOU IN A DIFFERENT LIGHT - JoJo & Chante's voices sound terrific together

EASY & I CRY TO MYSELF - two classic Chante ballads featuring strong music production & pretty lyrics

HEARTBEAT - Jermain Dupree produced track that DOES NOT go overboard on hip hop beats or force Chante into a mold that doesn't work, this is a nice uptempo track

I'VE GOT THE LOVE - nice reworking of a classic Rufus/Chaka Khan track

IN MY LIFE - another pretty ballad, notable because Robin Thicke wrote & produced the track

THIS MOMENT IS MINE - closeout ballad, again the beautiful lyrics & music production stand out.

I'd highly recommend this disc to Chante Moore fans - it's an excellent collection of songs and Chante sounds great!

chanté moore is back on the block and, it would seem, creating quite a stir with her new album _this moment is mine_. the album's first single, "chanté's got a man at home" (and, in fact, the majority of the album) is a celebration of the singer's love for husband kadeem hardison of _a different world_ fame. while many have applauded moore's shifting the musical focus from deadbeat brothers and absent babby's daddies, some feel that moore is flaunting her relationship in the face of friends and fans who may be suffering serious relationship troubles. who's right? who's wrong? to unravel the mystery, a little clue...IT'S A SONG. that's all. she's singing a song. if you don't like it, fine, but you have to admit that it is a nice change of pace to hear a sister sing about a man who has it going on (and not demean herself in the process). also, you simply can't deny that the woman blows the roof off of things when she hits the song's crascendo. though moore's first two labels did little more than establish curiosity and name recognition, _this moment is mine_ with production by rodney jerkins, terry lewis, jimmy jam and jermaine dupri is likely to establish her as the real deal. though few of the albums many ballads pack the vocal punch of the first single, the opening track, "if i gave love" could, conceivable, knock jennifer lopez off the charts.
