chante's represents!,

This review is from: This Moment Is Mine (Audio CD)
I just recently became a chante moore fan so I can't really compare her old work, but as for her latest, I think it is madd ill. Perhaps if you are an old fan of hers than you WON't like this album, but if you just recently got into chante moore than you will appreciate this master piece. I noticed how everyone focused on "Chante's got a man" where she is simply saying that there are good BLACK MEN out there. On tracks like "This moment is mine" she is simply stating the fact that it is now her chance to shine. No more playing second hand to ANYONE. "My favorite song is "I see you in a different light" this is a duet with JOJO. in this song she really displays her vocals and what she wants out in a man. If people took the time out to read her credits and who she gave thanks to for the album then perhaps they will understand what this album is about. On tracks like "in my life" chante seems to displays her affection for her man. With a deep beat to fit right along with what she is singing makes this song top notch."Curtains fall down/lights come on/I'm alone in the dark/And I sang final notes from my heart"... ChANTE sings beautifully on "in my life". Sure some of Moore's old fans may be upset with the album, but if you are a new-comer to her music then don't pass this album up.It is defiantly worth your money! peace mic-12

WORDS ALONE ARE NOT ENOUGH... CHANTE'S VOICE IS A THRILL!,
By Jata Johnson (Atlanta, GA) - See all my reviews

There's too much to be said about this wonderful singer. Her music is a LUXURY for her listeners. She's talented FAR beyond recognition. I admit, there are some songs on this CD that are simply NOT Chante Moore, but I do understand experimenting now and again with music and other artists, and that's what Chante did. Listening to ALL of her music from "Precious" to "A Love's Supreme" and now to "This Moment is Mine", you truly hear the beauty of her work, and the phases that she's gone through in her life thus far. She EMBRACES her listeners with her desired melodies while her SWEET voice makes love to her listeners' auditory senses. Her voice is MOORE (no pun intended) than therapeutic, it is heavenly. Of course anyone is welcomed to listen to whatever they choose, but the only listeners WORTHY of hearing Chante are those that know how to appreciate it and those that are TRULY lovers at heart. May God continue to bless her, her voice and her music. Buy this CD and the other two if you haven't already. Peace.

This Moment Is Mine,

This is a really well-produced album that features classic Chante ballads & mid-tempo groove and a few uptempo tracks that didn't cross over the line into pandering to the hip hop crowd. I think this album is a perfect progression from her classic debut & sophmore albums and listening to it again, I realized that I liked more than I disliked:
IF I GAVE YOU LOVE - Rodney Jerkins produced track that sounds too much like Jennifer Lopez's IF YOU HAD MY LOVE (he should be ashamed that he did this to Chante) CHANTE'S GOT A MAN - I'm still "meh" about this song but Chante sounds great I SEE YOU IN A DIFFERENT LIGHT - JoJo & Chante's voices sound terrific together EASY & I CRY TO MYSELF - two classic Chante ballads featuring strong music production & pretty lyrics HEARTBEAT - Jermain Dupree produced track that DOES NOT go overboard on hip hop beats or force Chante into a mold that doesn't work, this is a nice uptempo track I'VE GOT THE LOVE - nice reworking of a classic Rufus/Chaka Khan track IN MY LIFE - another pretty ballad, notable because Robin Thicke wrote & produced the track THIS MOMENT IS MINE - closeout ballad, again the beautiful lyrics & music production stand out. I'd highly recommend this disc to Chante Moore fans - it's an excellent collection of songs and Chante sounds great!

A Must Have in Your Collection!!!,
This review is from: This Moment Is Mine (Audio CD)
This Moment Is Mine finds Chante Moore at the top of her game, crafting an contemporary soul album that manages to avoid most of the cliches of the genre. As a matter of fact, the 14 songs that comprise This Moment Is Mine unmistakably follow the pattern for urban soul, whether it's the slow grooves of the ballads or the midtempo dance cuts. The difference is delivery. Moore never shout, she keeps her focus on the song at hand, delivering each line as if she has lived it. That, combined with the good production and an excellent selection of songs, makes This Moment Is Mine a first-rate urban soul album.

After too long an absence, Chante Moore returns to the scene with "This Moment is Mine".This latest offering is a mix of smooth R&B grooves and sultry ballads. The lead off hit single "Chante's Got a Man" is already a summer anthem. This set is more commercial than her last efforts, yet Chante' distinguishes herself from the overcrowded field of pop divas by virtue of her talent. Chante can actually sing. Standouts include the quiet stormish "Easy", the latin tinged "Blooming Flower", "I See You In A Different Light" a duet with Jo Jo Hailey and the funky "I Got the Love" which would make Chaka proud. Let's hope that the title cut proves prophetic for this gifted yet underappreciated performer.

Say It Ain't So , Chante?????,

Simply put it, Chante wanted to go mainstream and put togetther this car wreck of a CD, and got some okay results. That inspired her to follow up with that crappy CD "Exposed", in which her career has yet to recover from. But enough with that.
The okay results, were the first two released tracks, "Chante's Got A Man" and "I See You In A Different Light" (duet with JoJo Hailey). These two tracks are definately different from her previous work, and yes they come off well, especially the duet with JoJo. She got a nice buzz from that. But neither track did nothing to help this album stand out or side by side with "Precious" and "A Love Supreme". The experiment goes wrong with the tracks laced by Jerkins and Dupri., especially the Jerkins produced "If A Gave Love", which starts off sounding like Brandy & Monica's, "The Boy Is Mine" and then rips off Jennifer Lopez's "If You Had My Love", (now I heard of beat jacking, but knowing that Jerkins produced all three of these tracks, this here takes the cake, that and finishing what was left of Michael Jackson's musical career). YUCK!!!!, I mean Chante is 100 times more talented than all three of those women and Rodney Jerkins combined, needless to say I always skip that track. "Heartbeat", wasn't helping matters either, then there's "I've Got The Love" and "I Started Crying" (me too @ 13.99 plus tax I will never have again), and now I'm ready to trash this CD. Mainstream isn't worth all of this. But then came tracks like "Easy", "I Cry To Myself", "In My Life", "Love And The Woman", and "This Moment Is Mine", which saves the album from the pits of suckdom. This where Chante shines, and shows why fans care about her. In all, I say it's a good CD, but you know deep inside you could have gotten better.

Chante's Moment Is Hers,

I remember this album when I was in the 6th grade. I love this record. It is a favorite of mine! This album is a 12-song opus that chronicles her unique and intimate observations about love, affection, and commitment. This album is the crown jewel of Chante's career. Chante stays true to her formula of mixing musical ingredients like a master chef by enlisting the creme de la creme producers. Remember, this was 1999.

I Love this CD. It is expressive of everything pure and simple. It takes you back to simple times and gives you hope. One of my favorites is "I need Your Love" and title track "This Moment is mine" they are wonderful songs celebrating love and life. This album celebrates and promotes love within relationships and life. Chante wrote this when her mother was sick, thus her emotions are all enthralled within this CD. But it is not a sad CD or a sleepy CD, it is uplifiting and just rejuvatantes the soul with positive lisitenings. One of my favorite CD's by Chante Moore!

This album had been out a while when I bought it, but boy was I pleased. It's a good recording. Chante has that smooth voice that soothes the soul when you listen to her. I'm on edge waiting for her new release to hit the stands. She's one of my favorite female vocalists and if you love smooth love songs and a taste of smooth hip-hop, you won't be disappointed in this one.
