My kids love this book! They yell out and laugh each time it says, "This is NOT a pumpkin!" It is funny, witty, and visually engaging. I am buying a copy for my friend's daughter now.

I bought "This Is Not A Pumpkin" for my 2 year old granddaughter. She loves it! The drawings are simple, clear and colorful, and the text is short and direct. We had fun trying to guess what the drawing was - it certainly looked like a pumpkin!

My 21 month old daughter received this book as a pre-Halloween treat, and she loves it! I really like the simplicity of the design and graphics of the book too. Highly recommended!

My husband and I read this to our 2 and 1 year old almost every night. It is called "pumkin patch" in our house. We love Bob Staake and buy any book we can find that he has written or illustrated. Mary had a little lamp is also a big hit in our house.

My boys are 10 months old. We read for about 30 minutes a night. They have their favorites. I have mine as well.

I think this is a good book to break out for October...but not a great book.

It's one of those books where I like the idea and just wish someone else had executed it.

Visually it's quite nice - very modern. But the writing is sub-par. The pacing is poor. The emphasis points are not good. The ending doesn't come together.

I think you can do better, basically.

I'm a big fan of Bob Staake's other work so this was somewhat disappointing.

Perhaps I was expecting too much in thinking this would be a Magritte-inspired, "The Treachery of Images" homage using a pumpkin instead of a pipe. But no. It's just a very simple picture book for very young children.

SPOILER ALERT: It's not a pumpkin, it's a Jack o' Lantern. I wish I'd known this part in advance, as I was planning on giving it to a child whose family doesn't celebrate Halloween. (I know, the kid's missing out.)

I bought this for my kindergarteners. It's an okay book, definitely not one of my favorites. Mostly I didn't like it because I was looking for something with more technical or scientific information.

My 3 year old loves this book this year. He received as a gift last year and didn't seem to interested, but this year every page makes him giggle. He knows the "secret" ending! It is a nice book to read, good pictures. I would recommend for toddlers 2-3.

I've been reading to my son for awhile so I don't know if this book is just to simple for him. He doesn't really find it amusing. To younger kids it might be a little confusing too b/c it says that it is not a pumpkin through out the whole book. BOOK SPOILER....... when in reality it kind of is. Very simple book, easy to read & lots of the same illustrations throughout the book. My son enjoyed it but he doesn't ask to read it & I find it it not creative at all. The illustrations are nice but nothing I couldn't have done in my highschool art class.Probably a better book when my son was 1yrs old, not 2yrs old. If your baby doesn't like to sit long for a book, than this is perfect.
